FROM BRUSSELS
Well, if Mother Nature is to be
trusted I think Spring may be here.
The tulips are out, a hummingbird
has been seen and the tractors were
on the land Sunday. That sounds
pretty definite to me.
Suppers, concerts, showers,
parties and weddings are all still in
full swing as we move into May. Be
sure to check the paper and posters
or you'll miss something you
wanted to attend. Who said there's
nothing to do in a small town.
Joan Golden is furthering her
education at the Centre for Christian
Studies in Winnipeg this month.
Nancy Corrigan, Betty Gowing's
daughter, has also joined this
program for diaconal study to
ministry. So say an extra cheery
hello to Richard and Ophelia when
you see them the next couple of
weeks.
Carole Brown took the service at
the United Church as she will again
next week. She's getting ready to be
a full-time minister after London
Conference meets at the end of the
month.
We were on tour last week starting
in Guelph with my St. Joseph's
Alumni Dinner, a yearly event that
invites all the grades who ever made
it past. the Sisters' intluence. The
thrill of the evening was to see 11
ladies who graduated in 1947, even
before I was born. They told stories
Thursday night was once again an
action-filled night of ball hockey at
the Brussels arena.
Game one of the night was a
closely matched game with the
Ducks beating the Senators 6-5.
Scoring for the Ducks were Derek
Wood and Shea McLean each with
one and Cody Subject and Adam
McClure who each found the net
twice. Scoring for the Senators were
Zach Horne with two goals and
Adam Corbett with three.
Game two found the Oilers playing
the Red Wings. The Oilers won 6-2.
of their training that was at once a
reminder and then an epiphany.
Then on to Napanee for a little
work and lots of R&R — that's
reading and rejuvenating at North
Beaver Lake. We did the Spring tour
heading west and checked on map
names.
Now our list of places we've been
includes Roblin, Bridgenorth,
Keene, Reaboro, Little Britain,
Ravenshoe and Hastings to name a
few. The tourist areas use a paper
like our Stops Along the Way
making for a nice way to check out a
new area.
And yes it's nearly Spring — the
garden centres were all abuzz. Enjoy
the day. Bye now.
Betty G. W.
Scoring for the Oilers were Taylor
Prior with one and Chris Corbett (a
substitute player) with five goals.
Scoring for the Red Wings were
Mitch Blake and Andrew McDonald
each with one goal.
Game three was the Leafs playing
the Devils. The Leafs won 6-4.
Scoring for the Leafs were Matt
Damage
done to
businesses
On May 2 at 9:15 a.m.. two local
businesses on the main street of
Brussels reported property damage.
The officer checked the premises
and found that a security grill had
been pulled from the wall and that
another business had windows
broken at the rear of their buildings.
No entry was made and it appears
as if the damage was done by a
person attempting to enter the
premises.
Anyone who can help solve these
crimes is asked to call the local OPP
or Crime Stoppers.
White and Ty Sebastian, substitute
players Zach Home and Christopher
Jutzi each with one and Chris Corbett
with two. Scoring for; the Devils
were Scott Phillips and William King
each with one and Matt McClinchey
with two.
