Brussels Livestock report
40-60 lb. goats sell on strong demand
Total receipts for the week ending
April 26 were 3,214 head of cattle,
1,330 lambs and goats.
On Tuesday the fed steers and
heifers sold on a steady market. The
cows also traded steady. On
Thursday the veal traded at prices $2
to $3 lower. The lambs sold on a
strong active trade and the 40 to 60
lb. goats sold on a strong demand.
On Friday all weights and classes of
stockers sold on a strong active trade
at prices $2 higher.
There were 462 steers on offer
selling from $104 to $108 with sales
to $-117. Scott Hodgins, Crediton,
consigned one I imousin steer
weighing 1,330 lbs. which was
purchased by Norwich Packers for
$115.75. His overall offering of
seven steers averaged 1,376 lbs.
selling for an average of $105.
One limousin steer consigned by
Mel Lyons, Lucknow, weighed
1.450 lbs. selling for $114.25. His
overall _consignment of ten steers
averaged 1,494 lbs. selling for an

bull weighing 2,115 lbs. which sold

There were 144 head of veal on
offer. Beef sold $95 to $111.50;

weighing 650 lbs. which sold to
Holly Park Meat Packers for $110.
One black veal steer consigned by

club
elects

Registration night and elections
were held for the Brussels/Belgrave
4-H Beef Club on Monday, April 22.
Kim Higgins and Paul Coultes,
leaders for the club, explained what
4-H was about and how members are
to keep track in their record books.
Also, Paul explained the
requirements they need to fulfill for
a successful 4-H year.
Elections were held with the
following results: president, Corey
Rintoul; vice-president, Andrew
Toll; secretary, Garrett Vincent and
press reporter Benjamin Caldwell.
The next meeting will be at the
home of Kim Higgins, May 13 at
7:30 p.m. where members will make
calf halters and neck ties.
The meeting was adjourned and
lunch was served.
