The Huron County Historical
Society held a meeting on Thursday,
April 18 at 7:30 p.m. in the Bayfield
United Church.
President Ross Duncan welcomed
everyone then had a moment of
silence in memory of Don Jenkins, a
councillor, who passed away on
April 12.
The minutes were read by Rae
McFarlane.
Guest speaker was Patrick
Donnelly, who is with the Lake
Huron Centre for Coastal
Conservation. He spoke about, and
showed slides on how the history
and settlement of the Lake Huron
Shoreline has been influenced by
natural coastal processes, such as
changing lake levels and erosion.
The Lake Huron Centre for
Coastal Conservation is a registered,
non-profit charitable organization
dedicated to the conservation and
wise stewardship of Lake Huron.
The annual meeting will be held
on Thursday, May 16 at 7:30 p.m. at
the Kirkton-Woodharn Community
Centre.
Guest speaker is George Burgin,
who will talk about the very early
history of the Kirkton-Woodham
area.
The election of officers and coun-
cillors for the coming year will also
be held.
