Damage done
On April 20 at 9:15 p.m. OPP
were called to the Brussels Hotel on
Turnberry Street in Brussels over
property damage.
The owner of the business
advised the officer that sometime in
the last day an outside phone line
system to the business had been cut.
OPP have no suspects and would
appreciate any help that_the public
can provide in finding the
responsible person.
There were several guilty please
entered on drunk driving charges.
A Brussels man is spending
weekends in jail after pleading guilty
to a charge of having over 80 -mg of
alcohol in 100 ml of blood.
Joshua Beuermann was charged
June 16 in Brussels after police saw
the pickup he was driving go through
a stop sign.
Noting an odour of alcohol and
signs of impairment, Beuermann
was given the roadside test which
registered a fail. The 21-year-old
was taken to the detachment for
breathalizer readings which both
registered 120.
Beuermann has a previous drunk
driving conviction from Stratford.
Defense Glen Carey said his client
had been dropping others off, on his
way home, however, had made a
decision "to consume more than a
DD should."
He was sentenced to 14 days to be
served weekends. He has lost his
licence for two years.
Kevin W. Hopf of East Wawanosh
pled guilty in his first appearance to
driving with over 80 mg of alcohol
in 100 ml of blood.
The 19-year-old had been stopped
on London Road Feb. 24 at 6:20 p.m.
after radar clocked him doing 139
km per hour in a 90 km zone.
Detecting an odour of alcohol, the
officer adminiSter the roadside test,
which Hopf failed. Breathalizer
readings were 160 and 150. He was
fine $750 for driving drunk and is off
the road for one year. He was also
fined $200 for speeding.
He has a year to pay the tine.
Sean B. Crandall of Wroxeter was
fined $750 after pleading guilty to a
charge of over 80.
Morris said Crandall was stopped
by officers in North Huron at 8:52
p.m. Nov. 1 after officers received a
tip that the driver had been drinking.
Crandall had a full case of beer on
the floor of the passenger's side of
the car. •
The officer, noticing signs of
intoxication, had Crandall take the
roadside test, which he failed.
Breathalizer readings were 120. -
The 30-year-old is off the road for
one year and has one year to pay the
fine.
Shane Dolgos of Wingham haS
also had his licence suspended for 12
months. According to Crown
evidence, the 20-year-old was
arrested March 3 in Wingham at 3:35
a.m. after being stopped by an
officer and failing the roadside test.
Breathalizer readings were 140.
Dolgos was given 30 days to pay
the fine.
Michael Brewer, 19, of Seafortli,*
was charged Feb. 15 in Huron East.
Morris said at 11:52 p.m., Brewer
was travelling north in the
southbound lane of Brussels Line.
The roads were in poor condition
and an officer driving a cruiser south
was forced to the shoulder to avoid a
collision.
Stopping the driver, the officer
noted signs of impairment. After
failing the roadside test Brewer was
taken the station where the
breathalizer readings were 130.
Duty Counsel JOhn Myers noted
that Brewer had already paid a fine
of $120 for driving with a G2 licence
while having consumed alcohol.
He was given three months to pay
the $750 and has had his licence
suspended for a year.
