Douglas McDougall, of Blyth,
congratulates his son Robert
on his recent admission to
the Law Society of Upper
Canada and Call to the Bar of
Ontario. After travelling for
four years in Europe and the
Middle East, Robert returned
to Canada to pursue
university studies in French,
political science and
international relations. He
completed a Masters degree
in International Political
Economy and a law degree,
specializing in international
law. Robert currently Works
for the Canadian Department
of Foreign Affairs and
International Trade, where he
participates in the
negotiation of international
agreements on world trade
and intellectual property
rights. Mr. McDougall wishes
both Robert and his wife,
Sophie Pasquet, all the best
in their future life together.

whose donations and help made this year's event
a tremendous success.
GRADE 8 SILENT AUCTION
The Grade 8 class wishes to thank all of the buyers
at our Silent Auction as well as acknowledge all of the
Business and Service Club donations. The Silent
Auction was a great success and the proceeds
will certainly help toward the cost of our year-end
school trip to Camp Celtic & graduation. We are very
fortunate to live in such a giving community.

president of the Blyth Business
Association when the group held its
annual meeting April 16 at the Blyth
Legion.
Jody Black of Black Creek
Clothing, was elected as vice-
president. Secretary is Lorna Fraser
of Blyth Apothecary. Donna
Longman of CIBC is treasurer.
Association members expressed
concern over the dowdy look of the
entrance signs to the village.
Babcock- told members it will cost
$1,700 to replace the signs but she
felt it should be done for the 125th
anniversary.
The group voted to approach
North Huron Twp. council to see if
money from the sale of the Blyth
Public Utilities Commission which
had been earmarked for recreation
might be applied to this project.
Sympathy is extended to the
family of Margaret Radford who
passed away this past week.
Congratulations to Gordon
Brigham the winner of the April 19.
125th calendar draw.
Don't forget to mark your
calendar for the April 27 family
benefit dance for Jason Badley (son
of Myrtle and Larry Badley) who
was hurt in a car accident during the
winter. It is being held at the
Brussels, Morris and Grey
Community Centre.
We wish Don Scrimgeour a
speedy recovery after surgery on
Friday, April 19.
Dwight and Joan Campbell are
returning home to Nova Scotia after
a brief holiday with Harold and
Adeline Campbell, relatives and
friends in the area.
Approximately 35 nieces and
nephews of Helen Stonehouse
gathered together for a turkey dinner
on April 21 at the Belgrave Women's
Institute Hall to help celebrate her
85th birthday which was April 10.
Those attending were from
Tavistock, Petrolia, Brigden,
London, Lucknow, Atwood,
Goderich, Bayfield, Wingharn,
Belgrave and Blyth.
Some of her great-nieces helped
Deb and Fred Hakkers cater the
meal. After the meal some of the
great-nieces and -nephews and
great-great-nieces and -nephews
joined them for birthday cake and
ice cream.
Helen celebrated her birthday a
number of times. Tuesday, April 9
the UCW afternoon unit had a
birthday cake for her and on the
same night some neighbours
gathered at the home of Laura
Johnston to honour her. On April 11
Mait and Mary Edgar from Petrolia
and her nieces Marilyn Craig and
Nancy Daer were with her while a
few neighbours dropped by to wish
her best and have cake and ice
cream. On Friday, April 12 she
travelled with Bill and Muriel
Coultes to Jack and Edith Walker's
of Goderich for supper.

on Sunday, April 22 were Lois van

Bless This House,
Rev. Eugen Bannerman's story to
the children was about Earth Day.
(April 22). He gave each of the
children an envelope and asked them
to open it and hold it up and identify
what was in it. One had a an apple
branch with new buds, others had
pine branch, a cedar branch, a spruce
branch and one had a branch marked
with an M, a mystery branch.
His message to the adults was to
take a PDO "a personal day out."
Everyone should take time to have a
day for themselves.
At 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 22
there was a covenanting service for
Rev. Bannerman and the Blyth
United Church. Guest speaker was
Rev. Jack Paterson. Guest trumpeter
was Gary Page a friend of Rev.
Bannerman's and guest organist was
Margaret Kai. Presider was
Chairman of the Huron-Perth
Presbytery, Pastor Chris Beaumont.
Presenting to Rev. Bannerman were:
Bible, Fred Hakkers; the water,
Donna Sippel; the water, towel and
basin, Brenda Brooks; bread and
wine, Emily Phillips.
Everyone was invited downstairs
for a social time after the service.

Good food for a good cause
Blyth Public School was serving supper at the Memorial Hall
on April 16 to help raise money to purchase supplies for their
new science and technology room. At the same time the
Grade 8 students were holding a silent auction to to help
