Obituaries
DOREEN DALE
Margaret Doreen (Stephenson)
Dale of Brussels, passed away sud-
denly at her- residence on
Wednesday, April 10, 2002. She was
in her 71st year.
Born in Brussels on Nov. 10.
The Majestic Women's Institute
had a potluck dinner at noon on
Wednesday, April 10 at the Brussels
Library followed by their annual
meeting. There were 15 members
present and five guests.
Following the opening of the
meeting members revealed the name
of their Sunshine Sisters.
Leona ArmstrOng presented the
two 4-H leaders, Joyce Johnston and
Jacquie Bishop, with gifts. The two
responded .giving an insight into
their activities. They have 16 mem-
bers in the present club.
Lucy Hesse began the annual
meeting with an Easter bunny verse.
The report of the last annual meeting
was read and the financial statement
given. Edna McLellan read the
report of the nominating committee.
Marion Feldskov, president of
Howick WI installed the officers for
next year. They are as follows: past
president, Peggy Keifer; president,
Lucy Hesse; first vice-president,
Kathy Bridge; second vice-presi-
dent, Janice Forsythe; secretary,
Leona Armstrong; assistant secre-
tary, Jean Fraser; treasurer, Edna
McLellan; district director, Peggy
Keifer; alternate, Edna McLellan;
PRO, Doris McCall; education co-
ordinator, Yvonne Knight; pianist,
1931, Doreen was the daughter of
the late Frederick Stephenson and
Margaret Riley and the beloved
wife of the fate Lorne Rutherford
Dale.
Doreen will be sadly missed by

Doris McCall gave the public rela-
tions report and the Tweedsmuir his-
tory curator's report. The education
co-ordinator, Yvonne Knight, gave
her report, showing the Institute had
a busy year. The lobbying convenor,
Kathy Bridge asked members to
think about making resolution to
have a disabled person's parking

Wilken .and her husband Ken of
Elmira, and Liz Sholdice and her
husband Ken of Brussels. She was
the dear sister-in-law of Velma
Stephenson. Nora Stephenson and
Sarah Stephenson, all of Brussels.

Coins for Friendship amounting to
$80 is to be taken to the district
annual at Ethel. Jean Fraser_ is in
charge of getting a box in which to ,
keep the older records. The delegate
for the area convention is Edna
McLellan, and alternate is Yvonne
Knight.
Mileage to WI activities is to be 30
cents/km. Fall fair donation is to be
$25.
A Central Huron experiment
which saw letters bearing library
cards being mailed to nearly 3,500
homes in the municipality, has
resulted in 275 new library users in
the county.
Those receiving cards could acti-
vate them by taking them to a coun-
ty library branch
Of the new users 'to date, 68 per
cent activated their cards in Clinton,
20 per cent in Goderich, eight per
cent in Seaforth and four per cent in
Doreen was loved by her many
nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her
brothers Bill Stephenson, Dick
Stephenson, Doc Stephenson and
Ken Stephenson and sister Isabelle
Heimpel.
A motion was made to give the
local 4-H club $50 towards their
expenses, and $25 to the county 4-H.
Materials for these clubs have to be
paid for by the members now.
A collection of stuffed animals
was received to donate to the
firemen for distribution when need-
ed.
Happy Birthday was sung to Edna
Pletch who is having a birthday this
month.

The mailing was paid for by a
fund supported by gaming proceeds.

Friends were received by the fam-
ily to the funeral service con-;
ducted at .the Schimanski Family
Funeral Home, Brussels, on Friday,
April 12 at 2 p.m. with Joan Golden
of Brussels United Church officiat-
ing.
Soloist Mrs. Betty Graber-Watson
sang I Come to the Garden and Now
Great Thou Art accompanied by
Mrs. Grace Jutzi at the piano.
Carrying floral tributes were
nieces Joan Beuermann., Dawn
Koebel, and Debbie Nuys.
Pallbearers were nephews Brad
Wilken, Don Sholdice, Doug
Sholdice, Bill Stephenson, Dave
Stephenson and Neil Beuer-
mann with burial at Brussels
Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy,
memorial donations may be made to
Brussels United Church.
