WMS hears story
on Paul's letter
The WMS held its meeting on
Monday, April 8 at the home of
Lottie Scott.
The purpose was read in unison.
The call to worship was given by
Freda Scott followed by a prayer. All
Things Bright and Beautiful was
read.
The scripture was read by Ivy
Cloakey from Coloagsians. Mrs. Scott
led in prayer and read a story on
At the Branch

Lots of things going on at the
Brussels Legion Branch. All the
members should have received their
newsletter and silent auction pledge
sheet. If you did not get one, don't
worry, you will still be called about
your donation. The auction is being
held June 7 and 8.
The sympathy of the Branch is
sent to Comrade Alex Mawhinney
on the passing of his wife, Linda.
Comrade Doreen Rutledge is a
patient in Seaforth Hospital and we
wish her a speedy recovery.
Comrade Irma Brighton is home and
we hope that she is improving.
Congratulations to Tom and Joan
Warner on the birth of their baby
boy, "Tuffy" Junior.
About a dozen people showed up
for the-',clean up at the Branch on
Saturday. But don't worry, if you
missed it, you can come this
Saturday (April 20) at 9 a.m. We will
only be working from 9 - 11 so let's
see a lot of members out.
There were 10 tables at play at the
Saturday afternoon euchre. The
lucky pair of winners were Irlma
Edgar and Janet Mathers with 75
points. Close behind with 72 points
were Lloyd and Lillian Appleby and
Paul's letter to the Colossians.
Margaret Siertsema gave the
secretary's report and the treasurer's
report was given by Mrs. Cloakey.
Roll call was answered with a verse
on spring. Forty-four sick and shut-
in visits were recorded.
Rev. Cathrine Campbell closed
with prayer. Lunch was served by
Karen Scott and a social time was
enjoyed.
slipping in for third prize with 71
points were Joan Smith and Muriel
Petrie.
The lone hand winners for the
ladies was Delores Howatt and the
men's winner was Carmen Pollock.
It must soon be ball season as
three different ball meetings were
scheduled for the Branch this past
week. Groups are welcome to meet
in the lounge. Just call and let us
know.
It's nice to see Cathy Cochrane
back at the Branch and at darts.
Our four participants at provincial
darts held in Everett this past
weekend report having a good time.
They won four games and lost
four games to shoot 500 for the
weekend.
The Everett Branch showed them
a great time and they enjoyed the
sportsmanship and comradeship.
Congrats to Andy Adams, Wade
Henderson, Steve Cochrane and Bob
Richardson for representing the
Branch so well.
The Seaforth Ladies Auxiliary
celebrated its 50th anniversary with
a celebration on Sunday. There were
skits and readings by other Branches
in the .zone and light lunch was
served during the afternoon. .
Mabel's Moms met at their
regular time on Wednesday, April
10.
Those who attended were Linda
Hess and Judith; Lila Procter- and
Jessica; Crystal Agombar, Nicholas,
Gage and- .Curtis Weber; Donna
Raynard and Craig.
Their topic was baby illnesses.
Canvassers for the Blyth and
District Community Centre Heart
and Soul will be canvassing in the
Belgrave area April 24 and 25.
The Sunday Brunch held at
Belgrave Community Centre on
April 7 was a great success with
money raised to offset the cost of
end of year camp to Ailsa Craig
horse camp.
Guides acknowledge the
community's support.
Mr. and Mrs. Vince Makas
and Alicia of London and Mrs.
Mabel Wheeler motored to
Hartville, Ohio to visit with Mr. and
Mrs. Tibor Orovic and Kristien on
the weekend.
Crop damaged
by pickup
On April 13 shortly after 6:30
p.m. Huron OPP were called to a
farm located on St. Michael's Road
in Morris over crop damageJ
The previous weekend a dark
blue Dodge pickup truck was seen
driving into a field and doing
donuts before fleeing the area. The
owner attempted to catt..h .the driver
but was unsuccessful. •-'

in play in the Women's Institute Hall
on Wednesday, April 10.
