Obituaries
M. CENETTA BAINTON
The residents of Blyth and area
were saddened to learn of the passing
of Mrs. M. Cenetta (Jewell) Bainton
at her residence on Monday, April 8,
2002. She was 89.
Mrs. Bainton was a well-known
figure in the area and had made sig-
nificant contributions to the business
and cultural life of Blyth.
Originally trained as a teacher Mrs.
Bainton taught for five years at SS #3
Colborne. She began working with
her husband, Frank, as a bookkeeper
for Bainton's shortly after her mar-
riage in 1935. When her daughter
Glenyce was born in 1938 she
stopped putting in 10 hour days at the
mill. However she continued to main-
tain an active interest in the family
business and went in several days a
week for much of the remainder of
her life.
In 1975 Cenetta Bainton became a
founding member of the Blyth
Festival board of directors, remaining
as a board member until the late
1980s and as an honorary board
member until her death.
Mrs. Bainton was more than the
sum of her contributions to business
and the arts in the area. She took an
active interest in the life of the area
and its residents.
Many local adults can recall their
first jobs working at the Bainton
home or the mill.
When The Citizen was established
in „1985 to provide the area, with a
newspaper she was ready to
provide both moral and financial sup-
port.
Her kindnesses large and small will
be remembered and sadly missed by
the community.
Cenetta Bainton was the beloved
wife of the late Franklin Totten
Bainton and the much loved mother
of Glenyce and her husband Richard
At the April 2 meeting of Huron

abandoned council committees.
The transportation and environ-
ment committee produced a number
of recommendations all of which
were approved by council.
Council instructed staff to obtain a
price for installing water meters in
the Seaforth ward and for having
Festival Hydro read them and
administer the billing.
They also agreed to have the water
at rural community halls and ball-
fields tested on a bi-monthly
basis.
Council authorized American
Water Services to proceed with the
Snell of RR I , Blyth.
She was the loving grandmother of
Franklin and Kristine Snell, Jayne
Marquis and her husband Mark,
Amanda Aitken and her husband
Brad and Richard Snell and his friend
Christine Connelly. She will also be
sadly missed by her two great-grand-
children, Alexandra and Nicholas
Aitken.
She is survived by a sister Effie Yeo
of RR3, Clinton and was predeceased
by one sister Grace Cranston, a broth-
er Ralph Jewell and by a brother in
infancy.

ily residence 4 Sunset Drive, Blyth on

separate motion Davidson Well
Drilling's quote of $15,363.33 was
accepted for the decommissioning of
four wells in Egmondville and one in
Seaforth.

The committee minutes noted
maintenance problems at the sewage
plants in Brussels,
the
and
Vanastra. None of the problems had
reached the stage where they pre-
vented the proper operation of the
plants.
Most had been corrected prior to
the council meeting or the work was
waiting on parts which had been
ordered.
Councillor Larry McGrath asked
Interment will he at Blyth Union
Cemetery.
Donations to the Blyth Union
Cemetery or the Clinton Public
Hospital Foundation would be appre-
ciated as expressions of sympathy.
