PAGE 9. Midget Dogs win Canada bronze The Blyth Midget Bulldogs travelled to Montreal this paSt weekend to compete in the Canadian Hockey Enterprises Canadian Cup tournament. The Midget division consisted of six teams playing a round robin format. The Bulldogs opened the tournament against the U.S'.A. Warriors. With the game deadlocked at two, U.S.A. scored twice midway through the third period to clinch a 4-2 win. Nick Courtney and Rob Archambault scored for the Dogs with assists going to Matt Bromley and Archambault. The Bulldogs met Oshawa in their second game Friday night. After falling behind 2-0 the Bulldogs scored five straight goals and went By Bonnie Gropp Citizen editor Careful to avoid a misstep which might result in a reduction of government funding for the Blyth and District Community Centre renovation project, North Huron council did not approve a recommendation from the project manager at.its April 2 meeting. According to Councillor Jeff Howson, in an interview after the meeting, those involved have been cautious about following procedure or steps to ensure they don't put any of the funding at risk. "Everything is virtually a done deal. We're just dealing with formalities," he said. The tenders were advertised in local newspapers and several call-ins were received as well • expressing interest, said Howson. Project manager Paul Jackson's recommendation was on which of the contractors submitting tenders should be hired for the work. Howson explained that the original contract between the municipality and the provincial and federal governments had _had changes required. These had been sent to the 'solicitor on the morning of April 3, then will be sent to the on to a 5-3 win. Micah Loder scored three times and Mike Bean added two. Game four Saturday night was a must-win situation against Lucan. The Bulldogs scored four times in the third period and picked up a 5-3 win. K. It was for this reason that council held off on approving the recommendation, though Howson suspects this will be done before the next regular meeting.
