Midget Dogs win Canada bronze
The Blyth Midget Bulldogs
travelled to Montreal this paSt
weekend to compete in the Canadian
Hockey Enterprises Canadian Cup
tournament.
The Midget division consisted of
six teams playing a round robin
format. The Bulldogs opened the
tournament against the U.S'.A.
Warriors. With the game deadlocked

through the third period to clinch a
4-2 win.

council did not approve a
recommendation from the project
manager at.its April 2 meeting.
According to Councillor Jeff
Howson, in an interview after the
meeting, those involved have been
cautious about following procedure
or steps to ensure they don't put any
of the funding at risk. "Everything is
virtually a done deal. We're just
dealing with formalities," he said.
The tenders were advertised in
local newspapers and several call-ins
were received as well • expressing
interest, said Howson. Project
manager Paul Jackson's
recommendation was on which of
the contractors submitting tenders
should be hired for the work.
Howson explained that the
original contract between the
municipality and the provincial and
federal governments had _had
changes required. These had been
sent to the 'solicitor on the morning
of April 3, then will be sent to the
on to a 5-3 win.
Micah Loder scored three times
and Mike Bean added two. Assists
went to Kirk Stewart, two; Ryan
McClinchey, Neil Salverda, Cole
Stewart, T.J. Marks and
Archambault.'
In game three Saturday morning,
ithe Bulldogs were matched against
Ajax. The teams were tied at 1-1 late
in the third period, before Ajax
scored twice to ice a 3-1 victory.
Loder scored the Dogs' goal on an
assist from Kirk Stewart.
Game four Saturday night was a
must-win situation against Lucan.
The Bulldogs scored four times in
the third period and picked up a 5-3
win.

government.
It was for this reason that council
held off on approving the
recommendation, though Howson
suspects this will be done before the
next regular meeting.

Salverda and Bromley.
This result left Blyth in a. four-way
tie for second place. On a plus-minus
system the Bulldogs were awarded
third place, losing out by one goal of
moving on to the championship
game.
The Bulldogs faced fourth-place
Lucan in the bronze medal game.
The Dogs scored two third-period
goals and defeated Lucan 4-2 to win
the bonze medals. Loder and
Archambault each scored twice with
assists going to K. Stewart, two;

and Shaun Henry.
