Rev. Bannerman's message to the
Venturers
attend
ground
school
On Monday, March 25, eight
members of the 1st Blyth Venturers
attended an evening of ground
school and flight simulation at
Goderich Flight Centre located at the
Goderich airport.
Chief flying instructor Darryl
Gilroy provided an informative
presentation on the theory of flight.
Gilroy also briefed those present
about the different levels of pilots'
licences that are available to pursue.
What was not known by many,
was that a recreational pilot's licence
can be obtained for as little as
$2,500. This licence affords a pilot
full flying privileges in visual flight
conditions as well as permitting him
or her to carry up to four passengers.
The highlight of the evening was
having each Venturer take a turn on
the realistic flight simulator and
attempt a take-off and landing at the
Goderich airport. The simulator is
fully equipped with standard flight
controls that one would encounter in
the cockpit of a small aircraft.
The biggest lesson learned that
evening was that the airplane does
not fly itself and that one must be

adults was "We are not alone. We
live in God's world." He related two
stories.
One told about a minister who had
to go off to a conference for a week
and leave his family alone in a new
neighbourhood. On the way to the
conference he asked God to look
after his family while he was
away.
He called home when he got to the
conference and his wife told him
there was a beautiful big black
retriever dog laying on the front
porch.
Each time he called the dog was
still on the porch. When he returned
home the dog was still on the porch
and when he told the dog he had to
get into the house the dog moved
aside and let him go in.
When they returned to the porch a
few minutes later the dog was gone
and never seen again.
God had heard his prayer and
looked after the family while he was
gone.
