PAGE 19. M. McDonald greets at Duff's service Members and friends of Duff's United Church. Walton were greeted by Marilyn McDonald for the celebration of Palm Sunday. The final verse of Throughout these Lenten Days was sung. After the call to worship the hymn Hosanna, Loud Hosanna was sang as the children of the Sunday School entered waving palm branches. The Easter lilies adorning the front of the church were compliments of the Women of the United Church of Canada (WUCC) and will be distributed to the sick or shut-ins. This year lilies will be given to Betty McCall, Viola Traviss, Bertha Love, Idella Hubley, Margaret Craig and Malinda Johnston. The choir sang the anthem On Humble Beast Now Rides the King. Rev. Joan Tuchlinsky asked the children if they had ever met anyone special or important and if they had, did they remember how did they arrive? She recalled how she had had the opportunity to see Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip and how they had arrived in a limousine. But what about Jesus? Wasn't he special or important? Yet he arrived in Jerusalem by riding on a donkey. The crowd was surprised because here was the new King, the Saviour arriving on a donkey. The people cheered his arrival and waved palm branches to welcome him as our children of the Sunday School did today. The scripture reader was Teresa Baan. Joan's reflection was on Jesus' quest for justice and his offering leadership that was different from what the people expected, would end his life. Are we willing to follow Jesus during challenging times and to stand up for the oppressed? she asked. The offering was taken up by Don Baan and Neil McGavin.
