Ontario has a new Premier Ernie
Eves. If you drove into Blyth on
Saturday afternoon and wondered
why all the cars were around, it was
because Blyth had been chosen as a
voting pole for the Conservative
Party Leadership convention.
Greeting at Blyth United Church
on Palm Sunday, March 24 were
Lloyd and Donna Sippel. ' Guest
musician was Lynda Lentz-
McGregor. Reading the scripture
were members of the Confirmation
Class: Stephanie Sanderson,
Bethany Kresky and Jeremy Kresky.
Rev. Bannerman's story for the
children was of how the children
waved palm branches in front of the
Jesus' triumphant entry to Jerusalem.
As the congregation sang the hymn
Hosannah, Little Children. Rev.
Bannerman led the children around
the church waving palm branches he
had given them.
His message to the adults was the
story of Jesus' visit to Jerusalem. He
compared Jesus' journey from
Bethany down the Mount of Olives
to a Royal visit with crowds shouting
and waving. Like every major public
occasion, the entry of Jesus into
Jerusalem had its share of critics. As
Jesus and his entourage were passing
through the residential
neighbourhood of Bethany, the noise
of the crowds was disturbing to the
peace of the community. •
Rev. Bannernian conducted the
sacrament of communion.

North Huron council received
information regarding the Early
Years program at its March 18
meeting.
Evy McDonagh said that Wingham
has been selected as one of the
satellite sites along with Exeter and
Goderich. The main site will be in
Clinton.
The initiative offers a wealth of
resource which zeroes in on literacy
and numeracy, addressing needs from
pre-birth to age six. In addition to the
satellite centres there will .be
outreach to smaller communities,
said McDonagh.
The proposed opening for the
Clinton centre is April 2.
An early literacy specialist will be
hired to support groups in the
-community.
McDonagh said the program is
funded 100 per cent and said that
council had two options to consider.
The municipality can provide the site
and the Early Years program would
provide the staff or the municipality
" can look after it all.
Deputy Clerk Kathy Adams
questioned McDonagh on how much
independence the municipality would
have in looking after the site.
McDonagh explained that as long as
the specific criteria set by the
Ministry were met, decision swould
be left to the municipality.
They are looking to hire .ECEs for
the positions. There would be one
full-time and one part-time.

A letter from Richard Gibbons,

he felt the process had been open. "I
