FROM BRUSSELS
Guild meets
The March meeting of the Melville
Guild was held in the church parlour
on Tuesday, March 19 with 12
members present.
The meeting opened with a poem,
The Miracles of Easter, read by Mrs.
Knight, Beneath the Cross of Jesus
was sung followed by an Easter
prayer:
The topic, Oberammergau, was
given by Mrs. Bewley. It was an
interesting account of the passion
play that is presented by the town of
Oberammergua, Germany every 10
years.
The scripture was taken from
Mark 16: 1-8 and was read in unison.
Jesus Christ is Risen Today was sung
and the closing prayer was read by
Mrs. Knight.
Leona Armstrong presided over
the business. She read a verse,
March.
The roll call was answered with
' everyone telling their favourite
Easter hymn. The Guild was asked to
do the lunch on March 27 for Holy.
Week which is to be held at the
United Church. The Springtime
supper was discussed.
Sandra Clark will be the guest
speaker at the next meeting. She will
speak on her trip to Jerusalem. The
Guild will mark Missionary
Awareness Sunday, April 28.
At the Branch
By Jo-Ann McDonald
It was a quieter week around the
Brussels Legion Branch this week.
Of course the usual-things happened
like cadets and darts and on
Wednesday a meeting was held
upstairs. The Shamrock and Pfizger
group made a presentation to about
40 area farmers about their products
and techniques for animal breeding.
Comrade Cathy Snyder became a
grandmother. Grandson Seth arrived
Wednesday morning at London's St.
Joseph Hospital to proud parents
Matthew and Kendra. Everyone is
doing fine and Grama Cathy is on
cloud nine.
There was a super turnout for the
turkey dinner. Thanks to all our
comrades who contributed towards
the great meal. The Legion will be
closed on Good Friday so there will
be no meal this week. On April 5 the
meal will be ham and scalloped
potatoes.
The Ladies Auxiliary meeting
originally set for Monday, April 1
has been changed to Tuesday, April
2 at 8 p.m. Members please take
note of the change and plan to
attend-.
April 13 and 14, there is going to
be a spring cleaning bee and we
need help. If you can help morning
or afternoon either day call the
Branch or just show up. We need
some general repairs done as well as
cleaning.

Yippee! Yahoo! That PeeWee
team is _giving us a return of
Olympic type competition. Good
hockey, even teams and community
pride are with us once again. Two
wins are now under their shoulder
pads with games on Easter weekend
to finish the series.
If you know any of the coaches or
players a little cash donation would
be welcome CO offset the costs of
busing and other expenses — like
food for starving players. We can be
part of this team — silent partners are
always welcome.
If music is one of your favourite
things call the school and I'm sure
they'll send a student to you with a
ticket for a performance tonight. The
Seaforth All Girls Marching Band
and Brussels Performance Band will
show their stuff in the gym so get
your `toonie' out and enjoy the
show.
Extra money will be used to get
our band to Ontario Place in June.
Support the kids!
If this was a weather column it
could be full now with all the
seasonal and unseasonal weather
that we've experienced or heard
about in the past week. March can
now boast the worst snow squalls of
the winter as well as all the other
elements available. Maybe Easter
will bring the spring to say.
Spring must be near, we're into
community events — dinners, bake
sales, auctions, information nights
and courses. Usually March is a safe
time to run these but it's just like
November — luck of the draw for
weather. Thanks to all the brave
souls who ventured out last week to
support all the gatherings.
Brother Bill is celebrating as his
second granddaughter of 2002 has
arrived. Caitlin joined Sophie
(January 25) making life good at the
Hetherington house as all the babies
are in the Hamilton area making
cuddling easy. Now Laura Smith at
Braemar can sigh and again enjoy
the role of Great-Gramma.
As you Celebrate Easter with
those you love — take that extra
minute to really appreciate the folks
in the your life and let them know
how important they are to you. Join
the church crowd this week and
celebrate Life.
Bye now, Betty G. W.
