vvvvvvvvvvvvvvv Ethel was abuzz this past week
with many children out enjoying the
somewhat balmy March break!
Scooters, skateboards and bicycles
zoomed around town seemingly
powered by spirits soaring with the
sense of freedom and carefree that
only a much needed spring break
can arouse!
In speaking with our neighbour,
Lindsay Huberts, this is also the
time when many area high school
students are receiving acceptance
letters from colleges and universi-
ties. I would like to do a "Going off
to school" column soon so kindly let
me know of family and community
members who are accepting offers
of admission and heading out of
town to further their studies. As a
community we feel such excitement
for these young adults as they
embark upon this new chapter of
their lives!
Paul McGinn and his daughter
Laura were over for a visit on
Saturday. Paul, Sandy, Laura, Janet
and Grace moved from Ethel to
Durham last summer.
Paul, an active member of the
Grey Twp. Firefighters before mov-
ing, was pleased to hear that the
department is acquiring the "Jaws of
Life" (By the way, did you purchase
your ticket?). Paul has enquired
about joining the Durham
-Firefighters but explained that the
expansive area serviced by Durham
sees them responding to approxi-
mately two calls per day, which can

be quite demanding. The family is
fine and settling into Durham nice-
ly!
My children were quite excited to
see Mr. Bob Bremner out and about
on Sunday morning! We hope Mr.
Bremner is soon fully recovered
from hip surgery!
The community/police members
meeting is scheduled for this
Wednesday, March 20 in the lower
room of the Brussels Library. Don't
stew in silence! Come out and meet
other like minded community mem-
bers who want to live in quieter,
calmer and more respectful commu-
nities and the police representative
who would like to hear how OPP
can better facilitate this. Please call
Robin Dunbar,Constable Dave
Gillan, Wingham OPP or myself for
more info.
Finally, our family would like to
introduce Ethel's newest community
member, Enrima Mary Hruska.
Emma was born at half past mid-
night on Wednesday, March 13.
Jess, Ben and
Christopher seem quite thrilled
with their new sibling although Ben
could not understand why it was tak-
ing so long at the hospital and there-
fore concluded that Mom and Dad
must have gone shopping!
Christopher has covered the whole
of Emma's head with a lovefest of
the wettest, stickiest and most slob-
bery kisses I have ever seen and Jess
can often be found reading with her
little sister snuggled in her arms.
Daddy can be seen misting up at the
thought of another girl and Mom,
well, she's trying to make sense of
what day it is, if she's remembered
to brush her teeth and put deodorant
on and keep the names of her off-
spring straight!

For Craig Fair hard work and tal-
ent are turning a dream into reality.
Early in May, Fair will be leaving
to perform at the famed
Charlottetown Festival.
Fair, 20, is currently finishing his
second year, in the three year music
theatre program at Sheridan College.
He says the program is "great, but.
busy." He describes the course as
physically and emotionally challeng-
ing.
According to Fair this is the best
time of year because, "all the crazy
stuff is over - now it's just perform-
ing." He leaves you. with the impres-
sion that "crazy stuff" is a combina-
tion of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. classes and
5:30 p.m. rehearsals, with end of
year course work thrown in for good
measure.
While not what you might call a
seasoned veteran of the Canadian
theatre scene he is not a total novice
either. Roles in Gypsy at Stratford
and A Christmas Carol in London
are a part of his theatrical resume.
This will not be his first appear-
ance on stage at the Confederation
Theatre in Charlottetown. As a ten-
year-old he performed as part of the
cast of Anne of Green Gables.
