PeeWee Dogs takes series
The Blyth PeeWee Bulldogs
travelled to Wallace on Friday,
March 10 for their second
game leading the series one to
nothing.
Wallace hit the scoreboard first
scoring in the opening period. Blyth
answered that when Josh Albrechtas
fired one in assisted by Blake
Hesselwood.
The Bulldogs added to that lead
with Trevor McArter busting the
twine, assisted by Albrechtas.
Albrechtas increased the Bulldog
lead to two on a great individual
effort.
Wallace narrowed the Blyth lead
to one popping one in to close out
the first period.
In the second period the Bulldogs
scored two more to take a
commanding 5-2 lead. The first one
came when Albrechtas scored his
hattrick assisted by John Bokhout.
Darcey Cook netted the other one
assisted by Kyle Nixon.
Wallace didn't quit however
scoring three early in the third to tie
the game.
The Bulldogs bounced back with a
nice goal scored by Cook, assisted
by Bokhout. Blyth held on to win
the game 6-5 and take a two to
nothing lead in the series.
The Bulldogs hosted Wallace on
Sunday, March 17. Both teams came
out cautious in this game with
neither one holding the edge in play
and a lot of congestion in the neutral
zone as they skated through a
scoreless first period.
The Bulldogs found the net in the
second period. Brittney Peters sent
Cook in alone on the Wallace Goalie
and he beat him with a nice wrist
shot to the blocker side.
Albrechtas took a nice feed from
Bokhout and deked around the
goalie to increase the Bulldogs lead
to two. Brandon Kellington got the
other assist.
Wallace netted one to cut the lead,
but Cook scored <his second of the
night on a solo effort.
Wallace scored early in the third
period to once again pull within one.
Albrechtas scored his second then
Cook earned his hattrick tucking in a
backhander, assisted by McArter
and Bokhout.
Not to be outdone Albrechtas fired
a slapshot by the Wallace netminder
with only 34. seconds left, assisted
by Bokhout.
With this 6-2 victory the PeeWees
swept their final playoff series in
three straight.
