Obituaries JAMES PETER IRWIN A service of remembrance was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2002 to pay tribute to a well- known, respected Blyth business- man. Peter Irwin passed away peaceful- ly with his family around him on Monday, March 4. He was in his 65th year. Prior to moving to Blyth, Peter spent 25 years with the Bank of Montreal, starting in London, Hamilton, Kitchener, Clinton (1964- 1968) and Barrie before spending 11 years as manager at a Sudbury branch. In 1983 he and his wife Carol came to the community as the new owners of the Blyth Inn, along with their three children James, Elizabeth and Robert. Peter has been a supporter of the Blyth Festival for the Arts and was a member of the Blyth Business Association. As a businessperson, he sponsored a number' of local sports teams through the years. Peter has been a long-standing member of the Clinton K-40 club. Left to mourn his passing is his beloved wife Carol (Becker). Peter was the loving father of James and Karin Irwin of Pickering, Elizabeth and Larry Howatt of Wingham and Robert and Mary-Catherine Irwin of Kitchener. He was the dear grandfa- ther of Matthew, Erika and Nicolas Irwin; Tyler, Mitchell and Victoria Howatt and Gabriel and Sophia :Irwin. He will be remembered as well by his brother Paul and Christel Irwin of Fenelon Falls. Peter was also loved by one nephew Michael Irwin of Lindsay and by the extend- ed family of Valentine and Verna Becker. He was predeceased by his parents Clare and Gertrude Irwin and by one brother George. At Peter's request cremation took place. Inurnment of ashes will be at Gananoque Cemetery at a later date. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or to Community Nursing Services would be appreciated as expressions of sympathy. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Beattie-Falconer Funeral Homes Ltd. JEAN BRIDGE Susan Jean Isabell (Fallis) Bridge of Huronlea Home for the Aged, Brussels passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2002. She was in her 85th year. Born in Minto Twp. on Aug. 26, 1917, Jean was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Sarah Fallis and the beloved wife of the late George Albert Bridge, who predeceased her in 1983. Jean will be sadly missed by her children Glenn Bridge and his wife Jean of Brussels, Ben Bridge and his wife Lois of Petrolia, Alan Bridge and his wife Marilyn of Wingham and Harold Bridge and his wife Karen of Brussels. She was also loved by her 19 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and one great- great-grandchi ld. Jean was predeceased by her sister Elma Louise Wallace and grandson Perry. Friends were received by the fam- ily on Tuesday from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. at the Schimanski Family Funeral Home, Brussels, where the funeral service was conducted on Wednesday, March 6 at 2 p.m. with Joan Golden of Brussels United Church officiating. Pallbearers were Robert Bridge, Verne Bridge, Scott Bridge, Ivan Bridge, Steven Bridge and Bradley Shobbrook. Carrying floral arrange- ments were Lynne Armstrong and Laurie Lanning. Spring interment will be in Brussels Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society or Brussels United Church. A Rebekah service was held under the auspices of Morningstar Rebekah Lodge No. 315 at 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. ISABELLA CASSIE NOBLE Mrs. Isabella Noble of Wingham passed away at Braemar Retirement Centre, RR1, Wingham on Monday, March 11, 2002. She was 105. The former Isabella Rourk was the beloved wife of the late George Noble who predeceased her in 1952. She was the dear mother of Ella Stone, RR4, Brussels, and Jessie Roy of British Columbia. She is also survived by nine grand- children, 15 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sons George Noble in WWII and James Noble. Cremation took place with place- ment of ashes later in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Toronto. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to McBurney Funeral Home, Wingham.
