PeeWees win 2 in round robin
The Blyth Midget Bulldogs have
evened their OMHA semi-final
series with Bothwell at three points
each. The Bulldogs registered a tie
and a win this past weekend.
Blyth opened the series in
Bothwell on Feb. 22. Bothwell
scored three first-period goals. The
Bulldogs could not get back into the
game and lost 6-0.
Game two returned to Blyth
Saturday, March 2. The Bulldogs
scored first and carried a 3-2 lead
into the third period.
Blyth scored early in the third, but
Bothwell battled back, tying the
• game with 32 seconds left in
regulation time. The teams went
scoreless through 10 minutes of
overtime and the final score was
deadlocked at four.
Goalscorers for the Dogs were
Andy Toll, Mike Bean, Matt
Bromley and Rob Archambault. Kirk
Stewart added three assists. Cole
Stewart, Micah Loder and Bean had
singles.
Travis Shelton played a solid game
in the Blyth net.
The Bulldogs returned to Bothwell
on Sunday for game three. Bothwell
opened the scoring in the first
period, but the Dogs replied with
two goals in each of the first and
second periods and went on to a 5-1
victory.
Shelton made several spectacular
saves to keep Blyth ahead.
Loder scored twice for the Dogs
with singles going to K. Stewart,
Bromley and Archambault. Assists
went to Ryan McClinchey, Bean,
T.J. Marks, Shaun Henry and C.
Stewart.
Game four will be played in Blyth
Saturday, March 9 at 4 p.m. Game
five returns to Bothwell March 10 at
5:15 p.m. with game six, if necessary
in Blyth, Monday, March 11 at 9
p.m.
The Brussels PeeWee Local
League won two in WOAA round
robin playoff action.
On Feb. 27, Brussels hosted
Lucknow and came away with a 5-1
victory. Jordan Campbell and
Shayne Cochrane scored to take a.•
solid lead going into the second.
Assists went to Steven Ropp and
Adam McClure.
Lucknow continued to be
thwarted in their attempts to score
through the next period, while Scott
Phillips and Ropp doubled the home
side's tally. McClure helped out on
the Ropp goal.
Lucknow finally got on the board
in the third, but Ropp came in to get
his second, with an assist by James
Cochrane to close out the scoring.
The next day, the team travelled to
Clinton and trounced the hosts 10-1.
Clinton was kept off the
scoreboard through to the third
period, when they managed one,
while Brussels lit the light 10 times
in the first two periods.
Scott Phillips and Ropp scored a
hattrick, plus one, each, while
McClure found the net twice. Assists
went to Ropp with two, Phillips with
three, J. Cochrane with four, Andrew
McDonald, Brad McKague, Mitch
Blake and S. Cochrane.
In an action-packed contest, the

McClure scored the hattrick in this
3-2 effort. Assists went to McDonald
and Chase Chapman with two.
In the second game, the team
faced Bayfield. The score was
knotted 1-1 going into the third
period. McClure scored the lone
Brussels goal. Bayfield tallied three
to take it 4-1 and eliminate Brussels
from any further tournament
play.
