MYC is a wonderful music program for young children. It is fun and
the children learn in a very child oriented manner.
Classes will be offered for preschool children during the mornings
and our music teacher will be offering private classes for older,
school age children. Classes for the older children are parent
participation classes.

Special to The Citizen
A co-operative education program,
unique to Huron and Perth Counties
and geared specifically towards
agriculture-related employment, will
continue despite the fact it will no
longer benefit from a boost -of
provincial funding designed only to
get it up and running.

began about three years ago as the
only agriculture-related version of a
series of programs aimed at helping
Ontario students find post-education
work in industries whiCh are
dominant in their communities.
The program received special
start-up funding from the provincial
government and saw students spend
part of their year in classroom
settings, part of it working in either
farm or agribusiness settings, and a
small part of it volunteering on such
things as the International Plowing
Match or Bannockburn
Placing third were Bob Richardson
and Steve Cochrane.
Congratulations to them.
The Saturday afternoon euchre
saw 14 tables of avid players looking
to be the winners of the day. Coming
out as top players were Tom and
Eileen Sloan with 73 points. Coming
in second place with 70 points was
Bush Whittard and Olave Little.
There was a tie for third place with
two teams having 69 points, Arthur
and Maxine Hinz and Dennis and
Aileen Leddy. The lucky lone hand
winners were John Subject and
Delores Howatt.
There were six lucky door prize

Starting next September, that start-
up funding will no longer be
available, which could mean
changes for the program. At a
regular meeting of the Huron-Perth
board, Monday, Feb. 25, Education
Superintendent Ray Contois told
trustees the program will most likely
be rolled into either the board's
existing co-operative education
programs, or another two-board joint
venture called the Ontario Youth
Apprenticeship Program (OYAP).

students will be able to continue,
only maybe under a different name,"
Contois said. "Right now, we do
have funding for OYAP and the co-
op programs."
Following the meeting, Contois
couldn't confirm next year's Bridges
to Agriculture program would be as
extensive or exactly the same as
what it has become over the past
three years.
But he credited program co-
ordinator Ron Ritchie, who is
employed through the Avon
Maitland board, for building strong

relationships with agricultural
communities and businesses in the
two counties. Contois noted that
officials from both boards had met
recently with Ritchie to try to chart a
course for the program.
Contois seemed quite sure,
however, that neither board would he
able to fund Bridges to Agriculture
in its present format without the
start-up money, given the current
situation in educational funding.
