Brussels Livestock report
Heavy veal sells $2-$3 higher, Thursday
Total receipts for Brussels
Livestock for the week ending Feb.
22 were 2,212 head of cattle, 373
lambs and goats. On Tuesday, fed
steers and heifers sold on a fully
steady market. The cows traded
steady. On Thursday heavy veal sold
at prices $2 to $3 higher while all
other classes of veal sold under
pressure. Lambs sold on a strong
active trade. On Friday all weights
and classes of stockers sold on a
steady market.
There were 452 steers on offer
selling from $112 to $118 with sales
to $129. Cunningham Farms, Lucan,
consigned two limousin steers
averaging 1,450 lbs. which sold to
Norval Meat Packers for $129. Their
overall offering of thirty-seven steers
averaged 1,546 lbs. selling for an
average of $117.11. One limousin
steer consigned by Larry Ryan,
Crediton, weighed 1,460 lbs. selling
to Norwich Packers for $126.75. His
overall offering of twenty-eight steers
averaged 1,518 lbs. for an average
price of $119.66.
Bruce Johnston, Bluevale,
consigned one gold steer weighing
1,310 lbs. which was purchased by
Norval Meat Packers for $123.50.

Janssen, Hanover, averaged 1,205
lbs. which sold for an average of
$122.23 with his top blonde steer
weighing 1,270 lbs. selling to
Dominion Meats for $124. Walter
McKenzie, Dublin, consigned four
steers averaging 1,384 lbs. selling for
an average price of $121 with sales
up to $122.25.

weighing 1,365 lbs. which sold to
Packerland Packing Co. Inc., for $87
and one RWF cow weighing 1,720
lbs. also selling to Packerland
Packing Co. for $70.50. Six holstein
cows consigned by Giercrest Farms,
Tavistock, averaged 1,328 lbs. selling
for an average of $70.88 with sales to
$85. Bjorn Peterson, Palmerston,
consigned two charolais cows, one
weighing 1,110 lbs. selling for $80
and the other weighing 1,475 lbs.

There were nine bulls on offer
