Thresher delegation asks council for clarification
FROM BLYTH
Sympathy is extended to the
Hoonard family on the death of a
mother, grandmother and sister.
As Canadians we are proud of our
Canadian Olympians and
congratulate them on a job well
done. As most Canadians I watched
the gold medal hockey games for
both the women and men and found
them exciting and entertaining.
There were times in both games you
were on the edge of your chair with
fingers crossed.
Congratulations to Verna Lindner,
Monkton on winning the 125th
calendar draw for Feb. 23.
The seniors meeting of Feb. 27
will be held at the Anglican Church
Hall at 12 p.m. with a potluck dinner.

A delegation from the Huron
Pioneer Thresher Association
attended the Feb. 18 meeting of
North Huron council in Blyth to ask
for a clarification to the existing
agreement between the municipality
and the Association with regards to
property.
The Threshers own three buildings
and the tractor pull track, which are
housed on municipally-owned
property. Spokesperson Edgar Daer
told council that he felt the current
agreement needed to have this fact
clarified. "We are requesting that
there be an amendment saying the
Threshers have control of the
building for 12 months of the year."
Councillor Murray Nesbitt asked
if the buildings aren't used during-
other functions. Clerk-Administrator
John Stewart said that the town

The congregation welcomed Rob

members of the church.
Rev. Bannerman's story to the
children was about a Story in a Jar.
He had brought along a jug he had
purchased on a trip to Jerusalem with
a rolled up story in it printed in
Hebrew. He showed the children that

Warren Moore read the scripture

Daer also noted that the
municipality has items stored in the
buildings, but the Association is not
asking that these be moved.
Stewart agreed that the wording of
the agreement perhaps did not
specify that the buildings are owned
by the Threshers, but said that was
his understanding.
Association director Bill Vincent
expressed concern that the wording
in the agreement made it seem the
municipality could rent out the
Threshers' buildings for functions or
other activities. "We want to make it
clear that that's not what they were
built for, but for storage. Yet at the
same time we're not saying they
can't be used if we are asked."
Stewart is drafting a paragraph to
amend the agreement, which will be
approved by the Association.
