Until March 27, readers will have a chance to vote seven
castaways out of our Survivor Contest. The Survivor will win
$501). for the charity or community betterment project of his
or her choice.
Each week, readers are invited to vote off one of the
castaways, using the ballot shown here. Ballots may be
dropped off at any of the advertisers listed on these two'
pages. Every Monday at noon, those ballots will be collected
and counted by the Tribal Council at The Citizen. The
castaway voted off the island will be announced in the
following Wednesday's paper.
Each week our survivors will be required to complete a
number of challenges. Over the next two months, look to
these pages to find out how they're succeeding.
Sidelined Castaways
Week 1 - Eric Coates
Week 2 - Fran Cook
Week 3 - Deb Hopper
It your children were to inherit one quality or trait
from you, what would you hope it would be and
why? My smile because it portrays happiness and a
positive outlook on every day. It also takes less energy
to smile.
How would you amuse yourself on the island? I
would try to design some type of implements for Murray
Scott's Gator - so we could grow our own food.
Complete this poem: Roses are red, violets are blue, I'm
stranded on this island, Oh what will I do? I could build a boat, 11 may not ftoat. Or stay
on with Dale Finch, But I might get a pinch.
Swiss Family Robinson built their home in tree tops. If you were stranded on an
island such as Flower Pot Island, where would you build your home and why? I'd
build it up high also where it could get lots of sunlight to keep warm and so Dale Finch
could sun bathe!!
Favourite song: "Who let the dogs out!"
Favourite colour: "New Holland Blue"

why? My sense of humour - because it's important to
see the lighter side of life!
How would you amuse yourself on the island? I'd
search the island for possible materials to construct a
craft for my escape, if all else fails, I could watch Deb put
on mascara.
Complete this poem: Roses are red, violets are blue, I'm
stranded on this island, Oh what will I do? build a fine raft, With my shirt as a sail.
And set off for my home, (Hope I don't meet a whale!).
Swiss Family Robinson built their home in tree tops. If you were stranded on an
island such as Flower Pot Island, where would you build your home and why? I
would try to find a cave on the southeast side, about halfway up the highest part for
shelter, and to protect from flooding, and I could easily climb up to look for rescue ships.
