Happy Valentine's day and week
to you — I hope you have your gift
ready for your sweetheart. If not
you have another day — so get
going.
Helen Johns is making herself
available for interviews on Friday
night in Blyth so give her a call and
let her know your thoughts or any
other concerns you have with the
governing of our province.
Huron Perth Women of the
United Church held their annual
meeting at the Brussels United
Church on Monday. Richard
Golden served Communion in the
opening worship. Then the work of
2001 was reviewed. Past practice
and future plans as well as fine food
completed the day.
Ralph and I spent the weekend in
Ottawa — checking the ice
sculptures, the beaver tails and the
state of the Rideau Canal for Huron
County skates. Jim and Beth
Hetherington and kids from
Hallville joined us for the fun of
Winterlude.
Happy Birthday to the Valentines.
Yes we're all getting older.
Bye now, Betty G. W.

On Feb. 9 just before 3 p.m. Huron
OPP were advised of an abandoned
vehicle left in the parking lot of a
restaurant in Bluevale on Clyde
Street.
An officer attended the location to
find a white 4 door 1995 GMC
Jimmy stuck in the lot. The officer
checked the vehicle and found that it
had been stolen earlier that day from
Chesley.
During the investigation it was
learned that the vehicle arrived at the
spot at approximately 6 a.m. Two

the site into Bluevale.
Later that night at 9 p.m. a resident
from Duncan Street reported that his
vehicle a 1973 Dodge pickup truck

At the Branch
Busy week at Branch
By Jo-Ann McDonald
Another week goes by with lots
happening at the Brussels Legion
Branch.
The regular activities of Cadets,
Beavers and mixed blind darts keep
the weeknights busy and the
weekend always has lots of activity.
Friday night's supper of roast pork
was said to be delicious and a good
crowd turned out to enjoy.
Next week is Valentine's at the
Branch, An old-fashioned box social
will be held. Ladies bring a surprise
supper for two and the gentlemen
will bid on the offering, then will
enjoy their meal together. For those
who are not the daring type, the
menu will be meatloaf at the usual
price.
Saturday saw the cadets meeting
to organize their camping trip set for
next weekend. They were checking
their survival gear and getting wood
ready. They learned how to set up
tents, etc. Hopefully the weather co-
operates for them.
Only a small group was around
Saturday afternoon •for the meat
draws but again there were some
lucky winners. The membership
non-winner was Doug Logan.
Saturday evening the Branch had
a good crowd attend the surprise
50th birthday party for Murray
Kellington. He was really surprised
and did not suspect a thing.
Ladies Auxiliary member Jean
Little is in hospital in Seaforth and
we wish her a speedy recovery, The
ladies also have meat pies available
for sale and you can inquire at the
Branch. There are turkey and beef.
Looking ahead the public school
children are busy getting their
speeches done and having their own
public speaking competition in
class. The winners from the schools..
will gather on Wednesday, Feb. 27 at
the Branch for the Branch
competition and winners will
advance that next weekend to Zone
competition.
Keep that Wednesday open to
come out and hear the talented
children of the area speak.
The Se-outs, Cubs and Beavers
groups are in desperate need of
leaders for all age groups. If you
have any time to volunteer and work
with these groups please call Tom
Wilson, the Group committee
chairperson at 887-9273. There is a
screening process in place which
must be completed before the adult
can work with children. Ideally, they
would like leaders to start this
spring.
Beavers meet at the Branch on
Wednesday evenings. The Cubs
meet at the school on Tuesdays and
the Scouts have been sent to Blyth
