WI execs meet By Marjory Humphries, PRO Huron East WI A joint meeting of the executive and district directors of the branches of Huron East and Perth North Women's Institutes was held Monday, Jan. 28 in Gowanstown. All branches from Huron East were rep- resented and Margaret McMahon, president, conducted the Huron East portion of the meeting. Plans were made with Perth North for the Guelph Area Convention to be held Oct. 23 and 24 in the Elma Community Centre, Atwood with Subdivision 10 as the hostess. Huron East is responsible for the penny sale - setting up, selling of tickets and drawing of winners. Leone Foerter, new PAC person for Subdivision 10 gave her report from FWIO. Each branch is asked to have a fundraiser in 2002 for FWIO for the Adelaide Hoodless Homestead in 2003,. and for ACWW for 2004. The ACWW church service will be held on April 28 at the Gorrie United Church at 9:45. a.m. Members are asked to gather down- stairs at 9:15 a.m. A fun night consisting of a beef buffet at 6 p.m. followed by an auc- tion and a variety concert will be held in Fergus on April 23. Proceeds are for Guelph area and ACWW branches are asked to sell the tickets sent to them. This is open to every- one. One name from each branch was drawn to attend this fun evening, compliments of the dis- trict's 100th anniversary. The annual meeting of the Huron East district will celebrate 100 years of WI in the Ethel Community Hall on Tuesday, May 14 with Molesworth branch as hostess. Registration is at 9 a.m. A catered lunch will be served. The number of tickets needed and payment for these must be into Sharon Agla, treasurer, by April 15. Branch and district banners are to be on display. Long dresses or skirts, gloves and hats are to be worn. There will be a penalty for no hat. Glenna Smith, president of Guelph Area, will be the guest speaker. All members should try to attend this special occasion. Names are needed to fill the slate of officers for 2002-2003. A Tweedsmuir curator, a resolutions/lobbying convenor, a PRO, an educational co-ordinator, a second vice-president, and an assis- tant secretary are needed.
