In memory of a very special sister and aunt, Sherry, who was taker from us 9 years ago on February 2. It sure seems like a lifetime, Since you have gone away. My kids are almost 9 and 6, We talk about you every day. Late at night when the stars are bright, My girls tell me where you are! We look up and see the brightest star That one is Aunt Sherry. We know you are with us, Everywhere we go. You are in our thoughts 24 hours a day. You are never further Than a thought away. It would be so much better To have you here So your nieces could give you Hugs and kisses - The way it should be. God, please pick a single rose And give it to her today No message needs to accompany, it, She knows who it's from. - Forever missed but never forgotten, Steve, Wendy, Tiffany and Sarah Marks. 04-1 SOUCH, SHERRY. In loving memory of our dear daughter, Sherry who passed away February 2, 1993. Down the path of memories, We gently tread today. All our thoughts are with you, As life goes on its way. . We often lie awake at night when the world is fast asleep, And take a walk down memory lane with tears upon our cheek. The 27 years we had with you are worth their weight in gold, The joy and laughter and love that you gave us is ours to have and hold. Some people say, as time goes by The heartache will subside. But the feeling in our heart today Is the same as the day you died. No matter how we spend our day, No matter what we do, Before we close our eyes tonight, We always think of you. - Dearly missed and forever loved, Mom and Dad. 04-1 Legal notices NOTICE TO CREDITORS AND OTHERS All claims against the estate of Ronald Robert Baird, late of the Township of North Huron in the County of Huron, who died on or about the 2nd day of November, 2001, must be filed with the undersigned Estate Trustee on or before the 21st day of February, 2002; thereafter, the undersigned will distribute the assets of the said estate having regard only to the claims then filed. Call 887-9499. tfn By Andrew Hruska Concerned Huron East citizens and an OPP representative came together Wednesday night with the same agenda finding ways to make our communities safer. Before amalgamating the Twps. of Grey, Seaforth, McKi I lop, Tuckersmith and the Village of Brussels to form the Municipality of Huron East, and before the provin- cial government decided to no longer assume the financial respon- sibility for policing in rural areas of Ontario, many rural communities had what was considered to be "drive through" policing. With this type of service police would respond to accidents or emergency calls, but had no specific amount of hours des- ignated to these areas. Higher popu- lations in communities such as Seaforth and Brussels necessitated more enhanced policing. - Since the amalgamation took place and the Municipality of Huron East has entered into a new contract with the OPP, initiatives such as the Wednesday night Community Policing meeting in Brussels are being taken to ensure accountability on behalf of the police service as well as communication with the citi- zens it serves. One can look at this as developing a good business relation- ship between a service provider and consumers. OPP can better address concerns in the communities when they are brought forth at these monthly meet- ings and citizens have a forum to discuss issues and brainstorm solu- tions with a police officer and mem- bers from other communities. At the meeting were community members from Brussels and Ethel and OPP Const. Dave Gillan. He is a liaison between OPP designated to serve the Municipality of Huron East and representatives from the five wards. Const. Gillan is also able to pro- vide crime statistics for certain areas northhuron.on.ca Northern Huron's foremost source of information when you: • Need to check the weather • Need a plumber • Need to see what's on at area theatres • Need to build a barn • Need to find the money to build a barn • Need to read reviews on theatre presentation • Need a lawyer • Need to rent a crane • Need to order take-out food and don't have the telephone number • Need to find a real estate agent • Need an accountant Check it out at www.northhuron.on.ca (an online service of The Citizen.) and discuss what measures are being taken to curb problems such as theft, vandalism and driving infractions. Other interesting OPP information brought to the informal "round table" meeting by Const. Gillan per- tained to monitoring snowmobile trails for speeding and impaired driving and ways in which police officers are attempting to be more visual in the communities via foot patrols etc. Community based volunteer ini- tiatives such as Citizens On Patrol (COP) and Neighbourhood Watch as well as Crime Stoppers were dis- cussed. It was interesting to note from the meeting that many of the smaller communities face similar crime issues, primarily vandalism, theft and dangerous driving. Encouraging and assisting witnesses and victims to proceed With statements and charges seemed to be unanimous concern among the community members present. The next meeting will be held Wednesday, Feb. 20 in the lower hall of the Brussels library. Community members are encouraged to attend. For more information Const. Dave Gillan can be reached at the Wingham OPP office 357-1331. Hockey bag stolen On Jan. 19 at approximately 12:30 p.m. a citizen reported the theft of a bag of hockey equipment.
