Congregation observes communion

Women of Londesboro United
Church met in the Sunday School
room on Monday, Jan. 21.
Devotions were conducted by
Cheryl Trewartha, Kittie MacGregor
and Barb Bosman at the piano.
As this was the first meeting of the
new year, and with a new executive,
some time was spent getting organ-
ized and making plans for the whole
of the year 2002. A discussion was
Nancy Campbell Collegiate
Institute (NCCI) announced recent-
ly that there are five scholarships of
50 per cent available, a value of
$.4,650 each, for Grade 7-12 stu-
dents of Stratford and area. The
scholarships are awarded on the
basis of academic achievement and
community service.
Cora McNamara, the school prin-
cipal said, "We want to make our
education opportunity available to
students who might not otherwise
be able to attend our school. We
strive to be inclusive; although we
attract many international students
we want to make sure we have a
strong local presence within our
school population."
NCCI is a Canadian International
private boarding and day school in
Stratford, Ontario. The school
scored a perfect 10 and is ranked
number one in Ontario, academical-
ly, according to the 2001 report on
high schools released by the Fraser
Institute.

The Sacrament of Holy
Communion Was observed at
Londesboro United Church on
Sunday, Jan. 27. Serving the ele-
ments were Laura Scott, Helen Dale,
Bernice Norman, Elgin Penfound,
Nick Whyte and Brian Whyte.
Greeting churchgoers were John and
Brenda Radford while Robert and
Matthew Goodall ushered.
Flowers on the memorial stand
were placed by the family of Angela
Konarski. The congregation prays
God will continue to give support to
those families who mourn a loved
one.

Perth Presbyterial United Church

After several guesses as to what was
making the sound, the boys and girls
discovered Smarties. They reasoned
it is better to have Smarties of differ-
ent colours in case there is a colour
someone might not like.
Rev. Ross explained that in the
same respect there are many differ-.
ent churches. That way every person
can find orie they want to attend.

Oops! I misinterpreted the motion
made at the Jan. 14 meeting of the
Londesboro Women's Institute. A
motion to disband the group was
seconded and carried by those in
attendance. According to the group's
guidelines a second vote will be
taken at the March meeting. I apolo-
gize for any embarrassment this
error may have caused to anyone
besides myself.
Hullett Central Public School staff
and pupils will be concentrating on
the virtue of "moderation" this
week, Jan. 27 to Feb. 1. Anne
James and John to help Him.
Paul writes to the church in
Corinthians 1: 10-18. He has learned
that the church there is splitting into
small groups. He encourages the
members to be unified, of the same
mind and purpose with their work
and worship.

In 1925 a varied or colourful
group of churches and people joined
together to 'form the United Church
of Canada. They came together as
one body in Christ with one purpose.
Rev. Ross believes that one church
or denomination cannot be all things
to all people. Having different

find a church in which he or she is
comfortable.
It is more important that all
churches work in harmony and part-
ner together to further God's work.

Annual reports must be to Rev.
Ross by Feb. 1.
The Sacrament of Baptism will be
administered on Sunday, Feb. 3.
The members of the Board of
