FROM WALTON
Sunday service at Duff's United
Church saw Graeme, Helen and
Michael Craig greeting worshippers
at the door. _ _
Ini-portant announcements made
during service included the change
of the annual meeting. Originally
scheduled for Jan. 27 it has been
moved to Feb. 3 at 9 a.m.
The worship service and meeting
will be held as one. There will be a
potluck lunch and social 'time to be
enjoyed following the service.
Pass the message on to other
members of Duff's United Church.

What a busy week I have had.
Along with Judy Emmrich and Anne
Halley, I have had some extra mail
delivery. We were shocked and sad-"
dened by the sudden death of fellow
mail carrier Martin Bell. He and his
wife Linda moved just outside
Walton about four years ago and he
has delivered mail to RR4, and RR5,
Seaforth.
With no replacement delivery per-
son in place, Judy and Anne have the
Seaforth run and I have been doing
Walton.. So if your mail is coming at
odd times and maybe wrong, just
bear with us as we are doing our
best.
Our condolences to Linda and
family.
Funeral services were held Friday
from the Whitney-Ribney Funeral
Home and burial was in Cambridge.
Neil and Marie McGavin, daugh-
ter Cathy and husband Pat Melady
and their children enjoyed a day, in
Collingwood. Marie says there was
no snow up there so the ski hills are
busy making snow.
Grampa Neil, the avid skier he is,
took on the challenge of teaching
grandchildren Alex, Brent and
Shayna how to ski. After an hour and
a half of instruction, he turned them
over to the professionals before he
could teach them any of his bad
habits.
Something new at Walton Inn.
Come in and sign the birthday book
and get your lunch. Of course, you
might have to prove it's your birth-
day but that shouldn't be too hard.
WLS has
Pooh party
The children at Walton's Little
School celebrated the birthday of
beloved Winnie-the-Pooh author
A.A. Milne with a Pooh Party.
Children brought their favourite
Pooh characters and books. They
played special games including, Pin
the Tail on Eeyore and Posting- let-
ters to Pooh.
They read stories, coloured pic-
tures, made bookmarks and sang
songs.
The children even enjoyed a spe-
cial Pooh Snack of graham crackers
and honey and gummi bears.
The children enjoyed taking their
bears into the Bear Cave library cor-
ner. It was a fun-filled morning for
the children. •
McClure and ushers were Graeme
Craig and Murray Dennis.
The greeters for next week are to
be Leona- and Scott McDonald.
It is Christian Unity week and all
members of the Brussels Ministerial
churches are invited to a joint wor-
ship service on Thursday, Jan. 24 at
St. John's Anglican Church,
Brussels.
The evening begins with a potluck
supper at 6 p.m. with service at 7
p.m.
Everyone is invited to attend to
share in this time of worship and fel-
lowship.
Speaking at birthdays, celebrating
this past week were Holly Mitchell,
Murray McCall, Valerie Collins,
Pauline Gulutzen, Heather
McDonald Clarke, Clint Emmrich,
Janice Houston Carnochan, Don
Baan and Catherine Baan.
Jean Bewle.y had pictures of her
grandson and his new wife to show
me this week. Grandson John
Raven, son of Dan and Brenda, was
married Jan. 3 to Jilly. Pictures of
the happy couple and parents finally
arrived to make Jean's day. The
wedding was held in Airdrie, Alberta
where they reside.
At time of writing, Bill Shortreed
was still in hospital but was antici-
pating release. Our thoughts and
best wishes go out to him.
Happy news for Laverne and
Marion Godkin on the safe arrival of
a new grandson. Daughter Nancy
and husband Rick Schmeltzer wel-
comed Jacob Tyler to their home in
Orlando, Florida on Jan. 17.
Congratulations to all.
Enjoying a week of snowmobiling
were some area men. Ron
McCallum, Bill McClure, Murray
Dennis, Wayne Hartman, Bill
Harmer, Wayne Pridham and Harold
McCallum travelled to Nippissing to
Harold's brother, Russel
McCallum's, cottage. They had
good weather, good snow and put
quite a few miles on the machines.
Friends and family gathered on
Friday night to celebrate Brandon
McGavin's birthday a little early.
About 50 people gathered at the
Seaforth Bowling Lanes to have fun
and try their hand at bowling. Grama
Marie reports no broken bones or
being too stiff from the experience.
The Walton Little SchoOl program
has been focusing on winter and
studying bears. They are also learn-
ing about animals in winter and their
different tracks, feeding the birds in
winter and maybe putting up bird
feeders so they can watch them
through the windows. .
