Agriculture Brussels Livestock report 2,443 cattle, 293 lambs, goats on offer Total receipts at Brussels Livestock for the week ending Jan. 11 were 2,443 head of cattle, 293 lambs and goats. On Tuesday the fed steers and heifers sold at prices steady to last week. Cows traded on a fully steady market. On Thursday veal calves sold easier on a slower demand at prices $5 lower. The lambs sold on a strong active trade. The calves sold on a steady market with a good demand on steers. The yearlings sold on a strong active trade. There were 549 steers on offer selling from $102 to $108 with sales to $132. Emerson L. Martin, Linwood, consigned one limousin steer weighing 1,225 lbs. which sold to Norval Meat Packers for $132. His overall consignment of seven steers averaged 1,458 lbs. selling for an average of $122.21. One black steer consigned by Walkover Farms, Walkerton, weighed 1,180 lbs. sell- ing to Norwich Packers for $125. Their overall offering of three steers averaged 1,248 lbs. for $120.90. His overall offer- The Clinton office of the Ministry of Natural Resources recently announced that it had purchased a number of seedlings for use in Huron County reforestation proj- ects. These seedlings and a number of shrubs will be made available to individuals and groups for projects which enhance re-forestation proj- ects and upgrade fisheries and wildlife habitat on private land. The On Jan. 5 the Huron County Chinchilla Club, led by Barb and Ray Storey, met for the first meeting of this year's club. This meeting was held at the Cargill Feed Mill. Out of the 18 4-H members, 15 were pres- ent. The meeting started out with the filling out of enrolment cards and introductions. The leaders then out- lined the topics and dates of the future meetings and events. As the meeting progressed the members received the pages for their 4-H books and elected officers: pres- ident, Nicole Moore; vice-president, Michelle De Wit; secretary, Sara Moore; press reporter, Yvonne De Wit; treasurer, Matt Wilkins.
