The fl russels PeeWee Local
League added two to the win column
in recent WOAA hockey action.
On Jan. 12 the squad faced off
against Wingham at home and edged
their visitors 6-4. Wingham got on
the scoreboard first, but was
answered seconds later when Steven
Ropp bulged the twine for Brussels.
Adam McClure with a helper from
Andrew McDonald and Ropp added
two more before the first buzzer.
Brussels held the visitors down in
the second while adding another off
the stick of McDonald. Jordan
Campbell assisted.
Wingham almost upset the apple
cart with a three-goal third period,
but McClure and Chapman kept the
hosts on top. James Cochrane and
McDonald assisted on the McClure
goal.
The next day the squad visited
Goderich and won a close one.
Brussels jumped out to an early
lead when Ropp and Chapman each
scored in the first, while the team
held Goderich at bay. Shane
Cochrane and McDonald assisted on
the goals.
Goderich tied it in the second, then
Scott Phillips popped one in with
helpers from Ropp and Brad
McKague to get the lead back.
Unfortunately, the hosts snuck one
by the Brussels netminder in the
period's dying minutes to go into the
third knotted at three apiece.
The back-and-forth action contin-
ued after the break with Brussels
striking first, when Phillips set up
Chapman for the goal. Two quick
Juveniles do well at Silver Stick
The Wingham McFadden's
Maytag Juveniles did quite well at
the North American Silver Stick
finals held in Mooretown this past
weekend.
Wingham's first game was against
Tavistock on Friday morning.
Wingham came out flying and Aaron
Seip gave Wingham a 1-0 lead.
Brian Sinclair picked up the assist.
With the score tied at 1, Seip scored
his second of the game to take a 2-1
lead into the intermission. Devin
Moffatt assisted.
Tragedy struck Seip at the 11:07
mark of the second period. Back
checking a Tavistock player Seip got
underneath the player sending him
flying and the player's skate landed

The Brussels Midget Bulletts trav-
elled to Wheatley for two games
against the South Point Stars.
The Bulletts came well prepared
for their first match. Rachel Elliott
opened the scoring picking up the
rebound from Michelle Cook and
stuffing it by the South Point keeper.
South Point battled back scoring
early in the second to tie the match.
Kristen Palmer held the hot hands
in this game popping the go-ahead
marker with assists going to Alicia
Dick and Kerri Meier.
Palmer then added to that one
early in the third period. Michelle
Nixon passed to a wide open Palmer
who walked in alone on the South
Point goaltender and rattled the puck
off the inside of the goalpost and into
the net to lead the Bulletts to a 3-1
victory.
Nicki Berfelz was superb in the
Bullett cage frustrating the South
Point shooters at every opportunity.
The line of Rebecca Bruton,
Candace Procter and Lauren Hoegy
demonstrated some tenacious check-

lead, set up by Cook.
South Point found the net one
more time. Berfelz came up with
another super game making several
outstanding glove and pad saves to
seal the Bullett victory.
The defensive pairings of Sarah
McDonald and Campbell, Nicole
White and Danielle Good, Kerri
Meier and Jenni Hopf aided Berfelz
in keeping the puck from the
Brussels goal.
The Bulletts skated away with a 3-
2 win.

Bulletts edge Wheatley 3-1, South Point 3-2
ing, catching South Point off guard.
The following day Sunday, Jan. 13
showed more of the same for the
travelling Bulletts. The line of
Elliott, Cook and Ashley Ritchie
dominated in this one.
The South Point team found the
net first, but the Bulletts tied it up
when Ritchie tucked in a nice feed
by Elliott. Seconds later Brittany
Campbell scored blasting a shot
from the point on a nice pass by
Cook that gave the Bulletts the 2-1
lead. Elliott gave the Bulletts the 3-1
goals by Goderich put them ahead,
but with just a minute between them
Phillips scored two to end the game
at 6-5 for Brussels. Ropp and
Chapman assisted.
