Brussels Livestock report
Fed steers, heifers sell on steady market
Total receipts for the Brussels
JLivestock for the week ending Dec.
14 were 3,283 head of cattle, 1039
lambs and goats.
On Tuesday, the fed steers and
heifers sold on a steady market. The
cows sold barely steady. On
Thursday the veal sold on a strong
active trade. New crop lambs sold up
to $305 on a very strong demand
while the heavier lambs sold steady
to last week. The goats sold on a
strong active trade. On Friday; all
weights of stockers sold on a steady
market.
There were 535 steers on offer
selling from $102 to $108 with sales
to $114. One limousin steer con-
signed by Brian McComb, Lucan,
weighed 1,370 lbs. selling to
Dominion Meats for $114. His total
consignment of three steers averaged
1,433 lbs. for an average of $106.50.
Melvin L. Martin, Mount Forest,
consigned one limousin steer weigh-
ing 1,445 lbs. which sold to Rydint
Regency for $114. His overall con-
signment of twenty-eight steers aver-
aged 1,437 lbs. selling for an average
of $103.05. Two limousin steers con-
signed by George Chettleburgh,
Wingham, averaged 1,358 lbs. sell-
ing to Holly Park Meat Packers for
$111.50.
Eileen Wideman, Listowel, con-
signed one limousin steer weighing
1,185 lbs. selling to Dominion Meats
for $113.50. Her overall consign-
ment of five steers averaged 1,353
lbs. for an average of $110.34.
Twenty-eight steers consigned by
Mrs. Minerva Martin, Mount Forest,
averaged 1,352 lbs. for an average of
$107.64. Her top eight steers aver-
aged 1,299 lbs. selling for $110.25.
Joel Martin, Paisley, consigned
seven steers averaging 1,541 lbs.
selling for an average of $107.22
with sales up to $111.75. Four steers
consigned by Revel Dettman,
Clifford, averaged 1,286 lbs. for an
average of $105.95 with his top lim-
ousin steer weighing 1,210 lbs. sell-
ing for $110.50. John Gingerich,
Mount Forest, consigned forty-two
steers averaging 1,433 lbs. selling
for an average of $105.95 with sales
up to $110. Sixteen steers consigned
by Ivan H. Martin, Elmira, averaged
1,474 lbs. selling for an average of
$105.69 with sales up to $111.75.
Cunningham Farms, Lucan, con-
signed one black steer weighing
1,590 lbs. selling to Dominion Meats
for $111.50. Their overall consign-
ment of seventeen steers averaged
1,556 lbs. for an average of $104.31.
There were 263 heifers on offer
selling from $102 to $108 with sales
to $118.25. Stewart Strong, Gorrie,
consigned one limousin heifer
weighing 1,430 lbs. selling to
Norwich Packers for $118.25. His
overall consignment of nineteen
heifers averaged 1,351 lbs. for an
average of $114.80. Two limousin
heifer consigned by Don Eadie,
Wingham, averaged 1,135 lbs. sell-
ing to Dominion Meats for $116. His
overall consignment of five heifers
averaged 1,160 lbs. for an average of
$112.71.
Delton Sauder, Mount Forest, con-
signed nine heifers averaging 1,246
lbs. selling for an average of $107.78
with sales to $109.75. Two heifers
consigned by Tom Hem, Woodham,
averaged 1,380 lbs. and sold for
$107.50. Leggdale Farms, Chesley,
consigned three heifers averaging
1,430 lbs. selling for an average of
$106.76 with sales to $107.25.
Twenty-three heifers consigned by
James Weber, Mount Forest, aver-
aged 1,208 lbs. selling for an average
of $105.94 with his top three limou-
sin heifers averaging 1,225 lbs.

Woodstock, weighed 1,210 lbs. sell-
ing to Norwich Packers for $114.25.
Their overall consignment of four-
teen heifers averaged 1,255 lbs. for
an average of $104.76.
There were 350 cows on offer. DI
and D2 cows sold $57 to $63 with
sales to $90; D3, $52 to $57; D4, $40
to $50. Ron Hammel!, Dobbinton,
consigned one holstein cow weigh-
ing 1,150 lbs. which sold for $90.
One holstein cow consigned by
Allan B. Peel, Auburn, weighed
1,105 lbs. selling for $86.
Homesteader Holsteins Inc.,
Lucknow, consigned one holstein
cow weighing 1,090 lbs. which sold
for $81. Their overall consignment
of four holstein cows averaged 1,384
lbs. which sold for an average of
$64.83.
There were 13 bulls on offer sell-
ing from $58 to $78 with sales to
$79.50. Kie Farms, St. Marys, con-
signed one holstein bull weighing
1,960 lbs. which sold to Levinoff
Meat Products Ltd. for $79.50. One
hereford bull consigned by Beth
McKay, Kincardine, weighed 1,865
lbs. selling to Aylmer Meat Packers
for $78.
There were 155 head of veal on
offer. Beef sold $110 to $131;
Holstein, $100 to $119; Plain
Holstein, $70 to $90. Larry Rock,
Monkton, consigned one RWF veal
steer weighing 690 lbs. selling to
Holly Park Meat Packers for $131.
His overall consignment of eight
veal steers averaged 698 lbs. for an
average price of $117.75. One hol-
stein veal heifer consigned by
Hurdale Farms, Lucknow, weighed
655 lbs. selling to Holly Park Meat
Packers for $119. Bill Devos Jr.,
Bluevale, consigned two blue veal
heifers averaging 695 lbs. selling for
$118. His overall consignment of
five veal averaged 639 lbs. selling

The official last meeting of the
Bluevale 4-Hers was held on Nov.
23 at the home of Jacquie Bishop.

Craft Studio in Lucknow on Nov. 30,
the achievement at Huronlea, and the
bake sale on Dec. 1
As soon as the business was dis-
cussed, everyone help make short-
bread cookies. While the cookies
baked, they played Christmas
Jeopardy which was planned for the
youth leader. They sampled the
cookies and the meeting was-closed
with the motto.
On Nov. 30 at 2 p.m. at the
Bluevale 4-Hers met at Crystal's
Studio in Lucknow. For an hour and
a half, they created unique snowmen
made from out wood and a cloth for
the hat. Crystal was thanked and we
all left with a better feeling of
Christmas.
At Huronlea on Dec. 1 from 10
a.m. - 2 p.m. the club sold baked
goods during the craft and bake sale.
Almost everything was sold and the
money made will be kept for future
clubs.
The achievement was held at
Huronlea. on Dec. 7 from 6:30 p.m.
