Santa visits singles at Brussels Legion branch

It was another busy week at the
Brussels Legion Branch with Santa
visiting again this 'week.
The Wednesday men's nights have
been cancelled, but if interested call
the Branch and let us know.
Thursday night darts have a good
bunch out who have lots of fun. You
can come out anytime and join the
fun.
Friday night's supper of lasagna
was enjoyed by everyone_ Next
week is roast beef.
Saturday was busy with the Zone
team darts. There were 19 teams
competing for the opportunity to
advance to District competition.
Teams come from all across the zone
December events at Grey Central
Public School include the Christmas
concert Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 7
p.m., the Christmas dinner on
Tuesday, Dec. 18 and skating at the
BMG arena on Dec. 21. The whole
school will be getting together for a
period of Christmas carolling each
day next week.
Miss MacKay's morning and
afternoon classes are doing cane-o
grams to raise funds that will be used
to purchase books on tape. They will
be selling a candy cane with a card
for 50 cents. They are making a
woodworking project for Christmas.
In Mrs. Scott's class they learned
the letter "M". In art hey decorated
mittens.
Mrs. Bowler's kin ergarten class
is decorating thei room with
Christmas decorations
The children in Mi s Hill's class
are writing letters to Santa.
This week Mr. Park's class has
been learning a. poem called Mable
Murple by Sheree Fitch. In math,
they were studying growth patterns.
This week Mrs. Hemingway's
Grade 3 class had a science test on
magnets, and had a multiplication
test. They learned the letter M in
handwriting. They also had a special
guest, Mrs. Wietzel, who taught,
them how to write paragraphs. They
watched a movie about pioneers
coming to Canada and what their
homes were like. They also made
Christmas wreaths in art. They have
just welcomed their newest student,
Kourtney.
Mrs. Murray's Grade 4s are
preparing for the Christmas concert.
They are learning seven songs for it.
The Grade 4s have been memorizing
and presenting Christmas poems.
Half of the class have presented their
poems and many have achieved high
marks.
Mr. Walker's Grade 4/5 class went
on a nature walk in the woods. In
class, they are making string experi-
ments. Many pets have been visiting
their class.
Mrs. Mitchell's Grade 6 class is
studying the solar system. ThiS week
students researched a planet. They
are using the information they gath-
ered by reading to communicate
what a traveller to their planet would
experience.
• This week Miss Henry's class fin-
ished their unit on geometry and are
now studying algebra. Her class fin-
ished their unit on location of people
and goods. Miss Henry would like to
congratulate Krystal Ziegler and
Heather Stewart who placed -first and
second in the Brussels parade poster
contest.

A good crowd was around
Saturday afternoon to enjoy the
social action.
The Sunday night singles dance
crowd of almost 100 enjoyed the
music of Ken Scott's Orchestra. This
was the last dance before Christmas.
