The Citizen, 2001-12-12, Page 17The December meeting of the Belgrave Evening Unit to Knox United Church was held Tuesday evening, Dec. 4 at the home of Muriel Coultes with 17 members and eight visitors present. Leader Lorna Cook welcomed everyone and thanked Muriel for hosting the meet- ing. She then read a year-end poem. The January meeting is changed to Thursday evening at the home of Mabel Wheeler. Winners were: high lady, Lois Schneider; second high lady, Louise Bosman: lone hands, Lois Chamney; low lady, Ruth Jardin; high man, Stuart Musgrove; second high man, Mervyn Schneider; lone hands, Richard Moore; low man, George Michie. There is euchre on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 8 p.m. Everyone is wel- come. • A large crowd gathered on Thursday, Dec. 6 at the Belgrave Community Centre for the annual Kinsmen Turkey Bingo. Winners of the turkeys were Emily Elston, Laura Johnston, Shawn Cottrill, Debbie Pfeiffer (two), Keith Black, Bernice Pierce, Kellyann Vandendool, Nellie Brock, and Theresa Machan. The share-the-wealth games were won by George Michie and Joanne Robinson. Kaitlyn Michie, Ryan O'Neil, Mike Schott, Trent Michie, Caleb Brohm, Trevor Raynard, Matt Shiell, J. D. Shiell, Stephanie Robinson and Greg Dodds were the lucky winners of the kids' games. (Vicky Bremner photo) FROM BELGRAVE Club enjoys roast beef The Belgrave Community Club gathered on Friday, Dec. 7 with a good attendance. Everyone enjoyed a roast beef dinner prepared and served by Mrs. Debbie Reid and her helpers. The dinner was followed by a sing-song of Christmas carols led by Donna Shaw with Freda Johnston at the piano. Louise Bosman and Alice Nicholson had some readings. There were draws for prizes including table decorations that had been made by Louise. Bill and Muriel Coultes sang hymns from the United Church Voices United hymn book. They were accompanied by Freda. The afternoon's program finished with another sing-song ending with We Wish You a Merry Christmas and Silent Night. The Longest Night Service is being held at Knox United Church on Sunday, Dec. 16 at 7:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome. Mabel's Moms meet Mabel's Moms met at their regular time on Wednesday, Dec. 5. Those who attended were Kim Higgins, Shelby and Jarod Logan; Crystal Agombar, Nicholas, Gage and Curtis Weber. Their topic was family portraits. Freda Johnston; card secretary, Irene Lamont; group leaders, Muriel Coultes and Sheila Nixon, Mabel Wheeler and Thelma Pletch, Ruth Johnston and Barbara Anderson. With several helpers Freda Johnston and Louise Bosman pre- sented an Advent and Christmas around the world worship program. Lillian Campbell and Lorna Cook served lunch.
