Agriculture Brussels Livestock report Calves, yearlings trade steady at Friday sale Total receipts for the Brussels Livestock for the week ending Nov. 30 were 3,160 head of cattle, 446 lambs and goats. On Tuesday the fed steers and heifers sold at prices $2 to $3 higher. The cows traded steady. On Thursday both the veal and the lambs sold on a steady market. On Friday the calves and yearlings trad- ed on a steady market. There were 740 steers on offer selling from $102 to $108 with sales to $119. Perry Sereda, Centralia, consigned two blue steers averaging 1,210 lbs. which sold to Norwich Packers for $119. His overall con- signment of fifty-one steers averaged 1,317 lbs. for an average price of $110.88. One grey steer consigned by Murray Shiell, Wingham, weighed 1,380 lbs. which was pur- chased by St. Helen's Meat Packers Ltd. for $116.50. His overall con- signment of sixteen steers averaged 1,447 lbs. for an average of $107.19. "We're going to be through our total allotment in another three or four months," said Ben Van Diepenbeek, chair of the agriculture, public works and seniors committee. The program had been scheduled to end on March 31, 2003 and had been late.. starting, but applications for projects to protect clean water have flooded in. At the October meeting of the Technical Advisory Committee a further 80 applications were approved. The company declared a shareholder div- idend of $884,000 and a patronage dividend of $500,000. The company has issued a shareholder dividend every year since incorporation in 1958.
