Theatre on the Grand
offers winter series
This winter, Theatre on the Grand
in Fergus is offering a winter series
of four live professional theatre pro-

one of the 20th Century's funniest
men, Red Skelton, and a musical
tribute to country and western leg-
ends, Hank Williams and Patsy
Cline. Two additional comedies
round out the series.
There will be a holiday season
production of Norm Foster's comedy
Ethan Claymore, starring Foster. In
the new year, Canadian humorist
Nils Ling of CBC fame, performs his
hilariously honest, The Truth About
Daughters.
Tom Mullica's tribute to America's
most beloved and respected funny
man, Red Skelton: A Performance
Tribute will be in Fergus for four
days only in late February and tickets
are only available to subscribers.
And Memories of Hank Williams
and Patsy Cline returns to TotG in

nees Thursday and Saturday at 2

Blyth Festival held an open house on Saturday as part of the many events taking place for the

Win a dinner in Festival draw
As a not-for-profit organization,
the Blyth Festival is constantly
searching for new sources of rev-
enue to supplement its box office
receipts. While the festival does
receive grants from various govern-
ments and foundations, the days of
extensive arts funding are over.
Eric Coates, associate artistic
director, explains, "Things have
changed. More than ever, arts organ-
izations are rewarded for innovative
marketing initiatives as well as anis-,
tic excellence. Our goal is to estab-
At the Branch
lish ourselves as a leading force on
both fronts."
The latest marketing initiative is
designed to reward the theatre's
wrons and industry partners alike.
Called the Dinner-a-Month Draw, it
is a raffle event with a twist. Winners
of the draw will receive a $200 gift
certificate to one of 12 area restau-
rants. A new winner will be drawn
on the first day- of each month until
November 2002.
All tickets will be entered for each
of the 12 draws.
The Blyth Festival has contributed
$100 towards each prize and the cor-
responding restaurant has donated
an equal amount. The end result is an
excellent marketing partnership for
both parties.
The restaurants involved represent
the finest dining in the area: The
Church, The Red Pump, Benmiller
Inn & Spa, The Little Inn, The
Oakwood Inn, The Riverboat,
Eddington's of Exeter, Fireside
Cafe, Lakeview Cafe, Bailey's, and
Hessenland.
Faithfuls show up for euchre
By Jo-Ann McDonald
It's been quite a week at the
Brussels Legion Branch. Men's
euchre on Wednssday night has
some faithful men showing up every
week, hoping a few more will attend.
Farmers are getting caught up with
the nice weather so maybe open crib
this week will see a few new faces.
Thursday blind mixed darts had
new faces this past week. If you are
interested, you can still come out
and play.
The planned executive meeting
last week had to be cancelled due to
so many being out with the flu.
Friday night's supper of chicken
wings had a nice crowd. This week
is Surprise Hamburg Goulash.
Saturday the famous Legionnaire
cooks were at work frying fish and
serving up a delicious supper to
about 80 fish lovers. Our secret fish
batter coats delicious fish fillets that
are deep-fried to perfection — but if
you missed out you will have to wait
until next year now to try them.
Several members of the Branch
are busy learning hard candy and
chocolate making from expert
teacher Grace Proctor. Christmas
goodies just might be seen around
the Christmas draw time.
There are two weeks left in the
early bird program for paying early
membership dues. If you can't get
into the Branch, you can drop them
in the mail.
Just a few dates left for-Christmas
parties. If you need a place — call the
Branch to inquire.
