Wescast Industries Inc. has donat- ed a total of $60,000 to the Wingham and District Hospital Foundation toward its goal of raising $1.2 mil- lion to assist in the purchase of new diagnostic imaging equipment to replace the current outdated x-ray equipment. The presentation was made Nov. 15 during a special board meeting of the Foundation by Wescast represen- tative Liz Weishar to the chair of the Wingham and District Hospital Foundation Ross Davies. `In the light of other major fundraising and community projects in the area and the recent economic conditions we are delighted at the generous response by the communi- ty to our "Campaign 2001", said Davies. He added that over $700,000 has been raised or pledged only one month into the campaign. The Foundation is now more than half way toward its goal with corporate and commercial donations now start- ing to arrive. "We want to show our continued support to the hospital in recognition of the support the hospital has given to Wescast and the contribution it makes to the overall health of the community" said Weishar. The new equipment has already been installed at the Wingham Hospital and operational training is now underway. It will reduce radia- tion, give better image definition, MILDRED BLAKE Mildred Pearl (Cole) Blake of Walton passed away at Huronlea Home, Brussels, on Friday, Nov. 16, 2001 in her 86th year. She was the beloved wife of the late William Arthur Blake (1996) and dear mother of Nellie (Mrs. Gordon Mason) of Blyth, Betty and Harry Riordan of Strathroy and Larry and Carol Blake of Winthrop. She was also loved by her grandchil- dren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Blake was predeceased by son-in-law, Gordon Mason, one great-grandchild, one sister, Irene Cole, and two brothers Milne (Doc) Cole and Tom Cole. Mrs. Blake was born on Jan. 2, 1916 in Blyth, a daughter of the late Jack Cole and the late Luella Hamm. Mrs. Blake was also a member of Duff's United Church in Walton. At Mrs. Blake's request (here will be no funeral home visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held at the Blyth Union Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations to the Huron- and enhance the speed of treat- ment. The Wingham and District Hospital Foundation is a registered charitable organization incorporated in 1978 as a non-profit organization set up to receive and administer donations from the public for the sole benefit of the Wingham and District Hospital.
