THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 2001. From the Minister's Study Be part of celebration that begins now, says minister By Rev. Dave Wood Huron Chapel Evangelical Missionary Church It is just around the corner again! The plans and preparations are already underway and the commer- cials urging us to part with our dol- lars are once again bombarding the airways! Even as I write this, our home is taking on the metamorphosis from the drab and mundane to the explo- sive and vibrant colours of the Christmas season. Calendars are being filled and dates are being made in eager expectation of the holiday R. Richmond hosts Brussels UCW Brussels Evening UCW met Wednesday, Nov. 7 at the home of Rene Richmond. For many, the Yuletide is a festive time of year and it seems to me that the world we are living in is always looking for a reason to celebrate. And why? We need to! There is a need within the human frame to celebrate, to allow. the human spirit to soar and put aside the worries and cares of life if but for a moment. There is within us the desire to laugh and pull away from the responsibilities that often plague our lives. and if just for a moment, find a period -of relief that is tinged with joy. The Father of Christmas, (not to be confused with Father Christmas) understands His children and as such, He sent the greatest gift to give to us the greatest good which would in turn bring the greatest satisfaction the world has ever known! The Manger Child would become the Christ of the Cross and through His generosity would make possible a celebration within the heart that is not confined nor contingent upon mere seasonal appointments. As we approach the Advent sea- son, a time of preparation whereby we prepare for the coming of the Christ. Child, consider the celebra- tion that is already underway. Jesus is the host and everyone is invited and as with the woman at the well who had a longing to be a part of the celebration, He offers living water that will truly satisfy. This Christmas, don't wait for the "celebrations" to join in the party, but accept the invitation of Jesus and be part of a celebration that begins right now and will last for eternity. Jesus said, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him 'will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become a spring of water welling up to eternal life.
