On Tuesday, the fed steers and heifers sold on a steady market. The cows also traded steady. On Thursday the veal sold on a strong, active trade. The lambs sold at steady prices with the exception of the new crop lambs which sold on a strong demand with prices from $180 to $220. On Friday all weights of cattle sold on a strong, active trade. There were 424 steers on offer selling from $95 to $98 with sales to $120. Perry Sereda, Centralia, con- signed one black steer weighing 1,295 lbs. which sold to Norwich Packers for $120. His overall con- signment of fifty-seven steers aver- aged 1,384 lbs. for $101.65. One limousin steer consigned by Cunningham Farms, Lucan, weighed 1,415 lbs. and was purchased by Norwich Packers for $105. Their overall consignment of twenty-five steers averaged 1,491 lbs. for an average price of $98.34. Russel Kernighan, Goderich, con- signed two black steers averaging 1,158 lbs. which sold to Dominion Meats for $103. His overall consign- ment of three steers averaged 1,238 lbs. for $101.50. Two limousin steers consigned by Greg McPherson, Teeswater, averaged 1,575 lbs. and sold for $101. Robert S. Mitchell, Listowel, consigned five steers aver- aging 1,561 lbs. selling for an aver- age of $99.13 with his top red steer weighing 1,495 lbs. selling to Moyer Packing Co. for $101.50. His total consignment The first meeting of a new project for the Bluevale 4-Her's, Home for the Holidays, began with the pledge and roll call. Officers are: president, Kayla Bishop; vice president, Anna Nicholson; secretary, Leanne Elston; press reporter, Michelle DeWit. The leaders for this club are Jacquie Bishop and Joyce Johnston and the youth leader is Michelle De Wit. Members split up into groups and made two recipes - coloured pop- corn and dirt cups. They sampled the dirt cups but the popcorn was not done by end of the meeting. At the second meeting the leaders demonstrated what craft they would be doing - Halloween lanterns. Then they went into a shed and punctured holes as a design into a large can that related to Halloween. They attached wire as a handle and painted them. Sandra Dorsch, a 4-Her's mom, demonstrated how to make candied apples. Now that Halloween is over, they are doing activities relating to Christmas. Stan Francis, Kirkton, consigned seventeen steers averaging 1,460 lbs. for an average price of $92.59 with his top blue steer weighing 1,305 lbs. selling to Norwich Packers for $101.50. Thirty steers consigned by Johnston Farms, Bluevale, averaged 1,438 lbs. selling for an average of $92.43 with their top two limousin steers averaging 1,390 lbs. selling to Dominion Meats for $100. There were 263 heifers on offer selling from $95 to $98 with sales to $108.25. Rockx Farms, Tillsonburg, consigned one gold heifer weighing 1,150 lbs. selling to Norwich Packers for $108.25. Their overall consignment of forty-seven heifers averaged 1,304 lbs: for an average of $99.47. One grey heifer consigned by Don Eadie, Wingham, weighed 1,220 lbs.. selling to Norwich Packers for $107.75. His overall consignment of nine heifers aver- aged 1,192 lbs. for an average of $96.22. - Merkley Farms, Wroxeter, con- signed five limousin heifers averag- ing 1,243 lbs. which sold for $106.75. Their overall consignment of seven heifers averaged 1,220 lbs. for $103.83. One limousin heifer consigned by Muxlea Farms, Woodstock, weighed 1,360 lbs. sell- ing to Norwich Packers for $107.25. dry ingredients for Fudgy Brownies. The other 4-Hers had a fun time fill- ing their jars and decorating them. For the craft they took brown paper bags and ironed on cloth designs and/or dried fruit. These made very decorative gift bags. Lindsay Watson's grandmother came to this meeting to help make a Christmas ornament. Members painted, glued and sanded this craft for the Christmas season. Their overall offering of fourteen heifers averaged 1,294 lbs. for an average of $98.36. Ron Menary, Lucknow, consigned three heifers averaging 965 lbs. to Ryding Regency for $97. DI and D2 cows sold $57 to $62 with sales to $79; D3, $52 to $57; D4, $40 to $50. Lacey Farms Ltd., Chepstow, consigned one holstein cow weigh- ing 1,100 lbs. selling for $79. One red cow consigned by Ed Husk, Kincardine, weighed 1,090 lbs. and sold for $76. Gayle Haldenby, Kincardine, consigned one limousin cow weighing 1,220 lbs. selling for $74. There were 23 bulls on offer sell- ing from $51.50 to $70 with sales to $75.50. Joe Shelter Jr., Auburn, con- signed one simmental bull weighing 1,520 lbs. selling for $75.50. One charolais bull consigned by Doug Weigel, Mildmay, weighed 1,985 lbs. selling to Taylor Packing Co. Inc. for $73.50. There were 176 head of veal on offer.
