The Cranbrook community
extends deep sympathy to Don
Cotton and his family at the loss of
Thelma Cotton, Don's wife. In the
community she will be remembered
On Nov. 14 at 2:30 p.m. a man
was spotted on an ATV on John
Street in Brussels who wasn't wear-
ing a helmet. Police said the man
upon spotting the cruiser, fled down
the street towards the river failing to
stop for stop signs. His 2001 Honda
ATV became stuck in the mud.
The man had alcohol on his breath
and was asked to blow into the
alcotest and showed a warn.
An 18-year-old male from Ethel
has been charged with careless driv-
ing, failing to stop for police when
signaled and failing to wear proper
helmet. A 12-hour license suspen-
sion was issued and his driver's
licence seized and sent back to the
MTO.
He will attend court in Wingham
in January.
Y. Knight
hosts WMS
Frieda Crawford brought over the
following Knox WMS meeting
report:
The November meeting of the
Knox WMS and Ladies Aid was
held at the home of Yvonne Knight.
Eleanor Stevenson's topic was
Remembrance Day. Since we are
living in such uncertain times much
thought and effort was brought to
our Armistice Day services this year.
Let us all work and pray for peace
on earth, she said.
The Lord's Prayer was repeated
and a hymn was sung. Mrs. Knight
introduced the Presbyterial visitor,
Eunice Bisset of Goderich. With her
was Mary McTaggart. Mrs. Bisset
gave two fitting offerings, The Arc
and The Dash.
Discussion was held about twin-
ning with Listowel-Wallace. The
group is inviting them to attend on
Dec. 11. Mrs. Stevenson has again
offered the use of her large recre-
ation room ti entertain these ladies.
Madeline Steiss took her topic
from a new study book "Stories of
Mission", which gives the facts
about the various ministries. She
told of one minister who is working
in the Mission fields in Saskatoon,
Sask., among the native people. He
works with the poor and oppressed.
He is a native ministry. He has even
held a wedding ceremony in a
teepee.
Rev. Stewart Folster has done
much to help the people on the
Mistawasi Reserve.
She then told of another minister,
the Rev. Jim and Mrs. Brenda
Patterson, working in the mission
fields of El Salvador in South
America.
The ministry deals with, among
other things, the nutritional needs of
children. Many children are mal-
nourished and their development
needs to be monitored when a richer
diet is offered through the ministry.
Rev. Patterson has the task of weigh-
ing and measuring children.
as a wonderful and gracious lady. We
also remember her 90th birthday
which was celebrated with such fun
by so many last year at the
Cranbrook Hall.
A rather rowdy surprise party was
given for a milestone birthday of
Heather Williamson-Perrie by her
rather rowdy friends. Some 35 peo-
ple attended and partied until two
o'clock in the morning. I moved here
because it was supposed to be a quiet
hamlet!
Darlene Fischer wants us to know
that Tracey Swart had a birthday on
Nov. 19. She is ageless. Tracey that
is!
