Penalties kill Juveniles
Local Atom hockey action saw
Brussels travel to Wingham Nov.18.
Unfortunately for the travellers the
home team wasn't in a hospitable
mood sending Brussels away hold-
ing the wrong side of a 5-2 score-

No goals were scored in the first
period but the second saw Wingham
go up by two before Brussels'
Brendan Stretton, assisted by Zach
Hoegy got one back in the last sec-
ond of play.
Wingham was strong in the third
scoring two before the halfway
mark. Tyler Deitner got one of those
back with an unassisted marker, but
that was it for the visitors. Wingham
closed out the game with one more
goal.
The contest saw only two penal-
ties, both to Brussels.

of its own midway.through the first

help from Aaron Seip and Curtis
Knight.

lead before the intermission with
help from Kent Readman and Brian
Sinclair.
Penalty problems cropped up in
the third period as things got chippy.
With a Wingham man in the box for
a slashing penalty, Walkerton tied
the score at , two. A later penalty

The Wingham Juveniles split their
two games this past weekend.
On Saturday, the team came out on
the short end of a 4-2 decision to
Teeswater.

foot as Craig Marks scored an unas-
sisted goal on a 5-3 Teeswater pow-

by Steven Ropp and . James
Cochrane, just minutes into the peri-

picked up the assist.

Bulletts goalie sparkles
The Brussels Bulletts faced off
against St. Marys in St. Marys on
Tuesday, Nov. 13.
The two teams just lulled their fans
through the first period with very
unspirited play. However, the second
period got off to a great start.
Only 33 seconds had ticked off the
clock when Michelle Cook went up
the ice on an Ashley Ritchie pass and
using Alicia Dick as a decoy fired a
wrist shot to the top corner of the net.
Dick tallied a marker of her own tap-
ping home a feed from Ritchie.
In the third Cook picked up a
rebound and fired it in for a 3-0 lead.
Nicki Berfelz sparkled in the
Brussels cage earning a well-
deserved shutout.
On Saturday, Nov. 17 the Bulletts
hosted the Mitchell intermediates.
Brittany Campbell put the home
side up in the opening frame.
The Mitchell squad dominated
their opposition for much of the
game but failed to stuff one by
Berfelz in the Bullett cage. Kristen
Palmer scored on an empty net with
only 29 seconds remaining to seal
the victory for Brussels.
Berfelz was the difference in the
game stopping every shot she faced
to earn her second shutout in as
many games.
Brussels travelled to Belmore for
an early match against the intermedi-
ate team on Sunday, Nov. 18.
The home side struck right away
scoring in the opening period. Katie
