The Blyth Midget Bulldogs began
their season with two wins and two
losses.
The Bulldogs opened their season
on the road in Brussels and defeated
the home team squad!. 5-2. Rob
Archambault scored twice for the
Bulldogs with singles going to Kirk
Stewart, Micah Loder and Matt
Bromley. Assists went to Stewart
with two and T. J. Marks.
Wingham travelled to Blyth Oct.
29. Wingham scored three goals in
two minutes in the second period and
added an empty netter to defeat the
Dogs 5-3. Travis-Shelton turned in a
strong game in goal for Blyth.
Bulldog scorers were Neil
Salverda, Josh Albrechtas and Loder.
Mike Bean chipped in two assists
and Stewart added another.
Blyth hosted Zurich on Nov. 5 and
came out on the short end of a 8-5
shootout.
Jeff Elliott and Shelton each made
big saves in the Dog's net to keep
Blyth in the game. Cole Stewart
scored twice for the Bulldogs and K.
Stewart, Bromley and Shaun Henry
notched singles. Assists went to T. 1.
Marks, two; K. Stewart, two;
Archambault, Ryan McClinchey, C.
Stewart, Henry, Nick Courtney,
Loder and Bean.
On Nov. 8 the Bulldogs travelled
to Monkton to take on Elma-Logan.
Blyth built a 6-0 lead and coasted to
an 8-3 win. Archambault, Henry and
C. Stewart each scored twice and
singles went to Loder and K.
Stewart.
Picking up assists were K. Stewart,
four; Bean, three; Henry, two;
Marks, Courtney, Bromley and
Salverda.
The Bulldogs will compete in the
Wingham Silver Stick, Nov. 19 -
25.

It was back-to-back wins for the
Brussels PeeWee Local squad in
recent WOAA hockey action.
On Nov. 10, the team travelled to
Milverton.
After a scoreless first period,
Adam McClure got the team on the
board with an unassisted shot
halfway through the second. Brad
McKague added another with a
helper from Scott Phillips just sec-
onds later, to take a two-point lead
into the final period.
Brussels continued to widen the
gap when a power-play goal by
McKague found the mark minutes
into the third. Assists went to Jordy
Campbell and Phillips, who then
turned around and increased the
score by yet another, unassisted.
Steven Ropp, with help from Shane
Cochrane and Campbell bulged the
twine minutes later, but Milverton
cancelled it with their first of the
game.
Brussels answered back with their
sixth goal off the stick of Phillips,
assisted by Andrew McDonald and
McClure. McKague scored a hattrick
goal with help from Campbell and
Mitch Blake.
Milverton never gave up and man-
aged to break through the Brussels
defense in the dying minutes to score
again, but McClure finished it the
way he began to finish Brussels scor-
ing at seven. McDonald assisted.
With 37 seconds to go, Milverton
scored once more to make the final
score 8-3.
It was a huge victory in Brussels
the next day as the team white-
washed a visiting Ripley squad.
McKague scored the only goal of
the first period with help from Ropp
and Phillips.
The second period saw five
Brussels goals off the sticks of
McClure, Ropp, Blake, Phillips and
McDonald. Assists went to
McDonald with two, Phillips,
MeClure, Ropp, McKague.
The hosts continued their
onslaught in the third with eight
goals scored. Phillips finished his
hattrick, plus one, while McKague
and McClure also completed hat-
tricks. Chase Chapman rounded out
the scoring.
The game ended 14-0.
PeeWee Reps
beat Blyth
Brussels PeeWee Reps played
Blyth on Monday night and won 13-
1.
Scoring for Brussels were Matt
McClinchey, three goals, one assist;
Adam Corbett, two goals, one assist;
Andrew MacDonald, two goals, one
assist; Brad McKague, two goals,
two assists; Chris Corbett, one goal,
two assists; Christopher Jutzi, Cory
Chapman and Adam McClure, one
goal each, and Scott Phillips and
Chase Chapman each earning one
assist.
In net for Brussels was Kyle
Gibson making some timely saves.
Scoring for Blyth was Josh
Albrechtas.
The Brussels' Atom hockey team
was on the road Nov. 3, travelling to
Clinton for a WOAA game.
The Brussels boys spotted the
opposition a two-goal lead in the
first but got one of those back with
1:22 remaining in the frame when
Taylor Prior beat the Clinton net-
minder, assisted by, Tyler Deitner
and Brendan Stretton.
The second period saw Brian
Burgess and Stretton score for
Brussels, both assisted by Deitner.
Deitner got one for himself late in
the period as Burgess returned the
earlier favour with a helper of his
The Blyth Bulldog Novice Local
League team played its first game of
the season on home ice on Sunday,
Nov. 4.
Although the Milverton Royales
took the win, the Bulldogs played a
superb game.
The Royales held a 2-0 lead after
the first period but a goal by John
Lecomte late in the second period
put the Bulldogs on the scoreboard.
The Royales scored one more goal in
the second period.
Goaltender Sheldon Reid, with the

The final period saw Burgess
score his second of the night just
before the halfway mark. Deitner
capped a five-point night with his
assist on this final goal.
Despite the visitors' hard work
Clinton was able to put two in the
net in the latter half of the third to
leave the score knotted at five-all.
The game saw little action in the
penalty box with Brussels sinning
twice in the first and once in the sec-
ond. Clinton committed its only
transgression with just 2:14 left in
the game.
