The other contestants also got $100 to go to a charity of their choice. (Vicky Bremner photo) Media plays slots for charity The Clinton Racetrack Slots was the site of a media challenge last week. The event was to introduce a province-wide slot machine compe- tition. This tournament takes place at multiple slots-at-racetracks across Ontario with preliminary rounds. The finals are held at Slots at Fort Erie Racetrack. The top contestant at each site plus the top 10 province- wide win a berth to the finals for a chance to win $100,000. Nine tables played euchre at the Cranbrook Hall. Winners were: high lady, Iola. Subject; high man, Adrian Verstoep; low lady, Isabelle Craig; low man, Lloyd Smith; lone hands, Jeanne Ireland, John Subject; travelling lone hand, Lorraine Secret; tally cards, Kay McCreery, Hank Lawrence, Marion Harrison, Eluned McNair, Scott Stevenson; 50/50 draw, Eluned McNair. The next euchrewill be Nov. 16. I met Gary Crozier and his wife Eldene. They are moving into the house on the northeast corner of the Cranbrook crossing. Gary originally came from Atwood and still remem- bers the store in Cranbrook. He has been working in Kitchener and is retiring here. The community wel- comes the Croziers. It was the first Halloween of my millennium twins. They didn't dress up but got into the spirit of things by trying to get handfuls of candy and throwing them down the front stairs The Ethel Hall euchre was held on Oct. 29 with 13 tables in play, hosted by Isabelle and Bob Bremner. Winners were: 50/50, Harold Metcalf; high, Marion Behrns, Eva Harrison, John Subject; low, Velma Sleightholm, RoSs Stephenson; lone hands, Hilda Holmes, Margaret of their house after trick and treaters, while yelling "goodbye" loudly. Fraun Riley celebrated a real "milestone birthday" last Sunday. Like all people who have hit that birthday he is now 39! Many happy returns of the day, Mr. Riley!
