Blyth PeeWees down
Bayfield by 5-1
The Blyth PeeWee team took on a
tough squad from Bayfield, Oct. 29
on the home rink.
The scoring opened late in the first
on an unassisted goal by
Josh Albrechtas. There was no scor-
ing from either side during the sec-
ond.
After a break the Blyth gang blast-
ed four more goals past Bayfield in
the third. Blyth scorers were Darcey
Cook, Levi Cook, Kyle Nixon and
Trevor McArter. Assists went to
Devin Jenkins (two), Cook, McArter
(two) and Dickie Gregg.
Bayfield found a hole in Blyth
goalie Jeff Elliott who had thwarted
any other chances and ended the
game at 5-1.
The PeeWees play in Blyth on
Nov. 12 at 7:30 p.m: against
Wingham.
Novice Reps tie, win
The Blyth Novice Rep team played
its first home game last Monday
against Mensall and what a nail biter
it was. Thanks to outstanding goal-
tending the game ended in a 0-0 tie.
Blyth's Grant Sparling and Sheldon
Reid shared the goaltending duties.
They turned away countless Hensall
shots as did the opposing Hensall
goalie.
These two teams battled back and
forth throughout the game and kept
fans seated on the edge.
The next game found Blyth in
Milverton, Friday night. The first
period was scoreless as again action
see-sawed across the ice. Collin
'Whitfield jumped the puck to Tyler
Stevenson who blasted it at the net-
minder. The Milverton goalie gave
up a rebound which was neatly
tucked into the net by Michael
A second goal was had by Blyth in
almost identical fashion the next
shift. Adam Cronin placed the puck
on Dallas Pennington's stick. After
Pennington again knocked one into
the goalie, the rebound was sent
home by Kirby Cook.
Milverton answered the call by
sliding a couple goals by goalie Reid.
A third goal was had by Blyth as
defense partners. Matt Chalmers and
Tyler Middegaal handed Pennington
the puck at the red line. Pennington
beat Milverton's defense to slide the
puck past the pipes.
Milverton pulled their goalie in the
last minute of play but couldn't force
through the very defensive team of
Colin Bokhout and Matt Popp. Reid
was unbeatable and the end score
was 3-2 in Blyth's favour.
The next home game is Nov. 14 at
McDowell. 6 p.m.
Juvies suffer loss to Drayton
The Wingham Juveniles made
things interesting in the final period
of Saturday's game in Drayton.
Poor defensive play led to a 4-0
Drayton lead before the halfway
point of the game. Just prior to-the
intermission, Craig Marks scored a
powerplay goal to start the come-
back. Steve Carter earned an assist.
Aaron Seip scored an unassisted
powerplay goal to cut the lead to 4-
2.
With just under seven minutes to
go, Seip won a faceoff in the
Drayton zone and got the puck back
to Brad Wright on the point who put
the puck in the back of the net.
Seip looked to have scored the
tying goal with just over three min-
utes to go. However the goal was
disallowed and the 4-3 Drayton lead
stood despite rigorous pressure by
Wingham in the final minutes.
Next weekend the team travels to
Walkerton for a 7 p.m. contest. The
team returns home on Nov. 17 to
face Teeswater at 3 p.m.
PeeWee Reps
beat Howick
The Brussels PeeWee Rep team
played Howick and won 7-4. •
Scoring for Brussels were: Chris
Corbett with two goals and one
assist, Matt White and Brad
McKague with one goal and one
assist each, Matt McClinchey and
Steven Ropp and Christopher Jutzi
with one goal each. Greg Bowers
and Cory Chapman earned assists.

Bulletts suffer first loss
The Brussels .Bulletts hosted the
South Huron Intermediates on
Tuesday, Oct. 30 in Brussels. The
game was close throughout with a
few chances at both ends of the ice.
The BullettS, however, demon-
strated some uncharacteristic undis-
ciplined play which led to a South
Huron goal midway through the sec-
ond period. This proved to be the
only goal of the game and the first
loss for the Bulletts.
Nikki Berfelz was the lone bright
spot keeping the score close with
many outstanding saves.
On Sunday, Nov. 4 the Bulletts
travelled to Forest. The Brussels
team came out with a vengeance sur-
rounding the Forest net. They
pounded the -puck at the Forest
goalie but failed to stuff it in.
The Bulletts continued their strong
play into the second period out-skat-
ing their opponent until again some
undisciplined play accounted for a
Forest marker on the powerplay with
7:45 to go. The Bulletts came back
with a powerplay goal of their own
with 4:36 to go in the second period.
Rebecca Burton slapped home a pass
from Kristen Palmer to put the
Bulletts in for the tie.
The Bulletts continued to press
throughout the remainder of the
game but to no avail. Again Berfelz
played a strong game giving no gifts
to the opposition.
