North Huron deferred a decision
on its recycling contract after receiv-
ing price information at the Nov. 5
meeting.
Contractors had three options for
tendering: garbage pickup in Blyth
and Wingham, recycling in
Wingham or a combination of the
two.
Cenetta Bainton is in Clinton
Hospital and is hoping to be home on
Monday.
Come out and celebrate Blyth's
Communities in Bloom Family
Dance from 8 p.m. to midnight.
Skating will be from 7:30 p.m. to
8:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10.
The village was saddened to hear
of the death of Ron Baird. Funeral
service was held Sunday from the
McBurney Funeral Home.
Greeting at Blyth United Church
Sunday were Brenda Brooks and
Nicole Kerr. Ushering were Pat
Brigham and Evelyn Caldwell. David
Williams was guest speaker and
Margaret Kai was the guest
organist.
The children brought their shoe
boxes for Samaritan's Purse to the
front of the church to be dedicated.
David Williams' message was "We
have to be willing to go out on a limb
in our daily life and God will be there
to guide us.
After hearing the bid of the current
contractor, Brian Leyser Recycling,
for the second option, which showed
an increase from $32,100 to $59,800
for the first year, $62,400 for the sec-
ond and $65,000 for the third, coun-
cil was faced with a decision.
Leyser has been doing the work
for the same fee as when he started
10 years ago. Having told Clerk-
Administrator John Stewart that he
would definitely submit a higher bid,
A big thank yo to all who attended
the auction Friday night.
The Blyth School Council was
informed on Thursday that Blyth
Public school is on the list for closure
or boundary changes and that if the
school is closed the students will be
bused to Hullett School.
If you wish to see the board min-
utes you can go to the school office
or contact any member of the school
council. The school council is prepar-
ing a submission to the board, please
send your comments to the school in
writing so they can be included. All
comments must be signed.
Blyth euchre winners of Oct. 29
were: high lady, Ruth Shiell; high
man, Effie McCall; ladies' lone hand,
Mary Turnbull; men's lone hand,
Marie Park; lucky score cards, Kay
Konarski, Bernice McClinchey; most
zeroes, Norman Turnbull.
This was the last night for euchre.
Committee thanks all who have
attended.
Stewart also got information from
Bluewater, who has the Blyth recy-
cling program. That amount is a set
fee of $41.35 per unit. Stewart esti-
mated Wingham with 1,600 units.
When a question arose as to what
materials each of the contractors
would pick up, it was decided to
defer the decision until that informa-
tion was obtained.
The award for garbage pick-up in
Wingham and Blyth went to Carter's
Waste Disposal in the amount of
$57,065.28 annually for three years.
Presently the amount paid is
$57,405.36.
Bluewater does have a co-collec-
tive program, but it was determined
the cost would be a greater amount
than Carter's bid.

the last 15 minutes someone threw an
apple through the front window of the
residence. Damage is estimated at
over $100.
The victims have experienced sev-
eral cases of vandalism in the last
couple of months and it is believed
that young people in the area are
