(Vicky Bremner photo) Volunteer Board Members Needed The Grey Bruce Huron Perth District Health Council (DHC) is seeking two (2) enthusiastic individuals from the County of Huron who have a genuine interest in the local health care system to serve on its Board. As a DHC board member you will be involved in decisions that affect local health care services and also learn about the government's on-going reform of the health care system. The DHC is seeking applications from individuals to serve as "consumer" representatives. To be eligible as a "consumer", you must reside in the County of Huron but not be involved in the provision of health services. The mandate of the DHC is as follows: To advise the Minister of Health and Long-Term Care on local health care needs and other local health matters; I— To make recommendations on the allocation of resources to meet the health needs in the District; and --- To plan for the development and implementation of an integrated health care system in the District. FROM BELGRAVE Club meets at arena The Belgrave Community Club met on Oct. 5 at 1:30 p.m. in the arena with a very good attendance. The meeting opened by singing 0 Canada with Freda Johnston at the piano. The minutes of the previous meet- ing were read and approved. Lorne Campbell gave a report from a meet- ing he attended of the Tri‘County Planning Committee held on Sept. 18. This committee will meet in Belgrave on Nov. 20. The group received an invitation from Dungannon Seniors to join them for a fun day Oct. 20. Dessert will be served at 1 p.m. Notify Lorna Cook at 357-1547 if planning to attend. The Community Club has been invited to the Belgrave school on Nov. 12 for a Remembrance Day service. Guests Bob and Ruth Gordon were introduced by Louise Bosman. They gave a very interesting account of their trip to Scotland during the sum- mer. They had many pictures which were passed around. L. Chamney hosts UCW The Afternoon Unit of the UCW met Oct. 9 at the home of Lois Chamney. Kay Roberts welcomed everyone and thanked the hostess then read a short poem entitled We Thank Thee. Ada Taylor conducted the worship choosing Thanksgiving as the theme. She closed with a message, Stop liv- ing On Grumble Street and move to Thanksgiving Street. Mary Taylor presented the Bible Study continuing on with the gospel of Matthew. The title was How to Forgive. Mrs. Chamney was in charge of the study portion of the meeting. She introduced her daughter Donna Muir, who had spent three weeks in June visiting with her son and touring Taiwan and other places such as Bali, Bangkok and Hong Kong. Mark and his girlfriend were in Taiwan teach- ing English. Donna presented a very interesting insight into the different cultures and how they live. Mrs. Roberts thanked her, then pro- p )unced the benediction. A social n me followed. There were eight tables of euchre in play on Wednesday, Oct. 10. Winners were: high lady, Mary Taylor; 'second high lady, Gordon Bosman; lone hands, Mary McIntosh; low lady, Ruth Johnston; high man, Mervyn Schneider; second high man, Allen Edgar; lone hands, Richard Moore; low man, Laura Johnston. The next shoot is Friday, Oct 2 Thanksgiving dinner at the home of Betty Irwin. Jack and Mary Taylor attended a family Thanksgiving dinner 'at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Taylor at Ripley.. Those attending were from London, Toronto, Mitchell, New Hamburg and Shakespeare. John and Lois Anderson were on a very enjoyable three-day bus nip to Severn Lodge. The weather was in their favour every day. The highlight was a trip to Bala for a tour of a cran- berry farm. Celebrating Thanksgiving with Mrs. Mabel Wheeler were Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Jones, Andrew and Avery of Toronto, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Dal Bianco, twins Sarah and Garnet of Niagara Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Charter of Teeswater, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Davis and Shannon of Markham, Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Makas and Alicia of London, Mrs. Mildred McAdam of Clinton, Mr. and Mrs. Don Rae of Guelph and Mr. Jim Coultes of Wingham.
