Mr. Dowson was the beloved hus- band of Jean Swanson. He was the father of Robert and Gerarda Dowson of St. Thomas, Paula and Joe Elliott of Newmarket, and William Dowson and his friend Toni of Mississauga. He was' also father to Linda and Grant Rumble of Lucknow, Marjorie Irwin of Wingham, Rick and Heather Swanson of Wingham, Susan Swanson of Calgary, Ken and Lianne Swanson • of Wingham. He was sur- vived as well by his sister Roberta Fuller, his brother Conroy Dowson, both of Toronto, 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mr. Dowson was predeceased by his parents Vernon and June (Campbell) Dowson and his sister Betty Dowson. Visitation was at McBurney Funeral Home, Wingham on Saturday , from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service was held at the McBumey Funeral Home on Sunday at 2 p.m. Rev. Len Myers officiated. FERNE HOWATT Lillian Elsie Feme Howatt passed away at Pinecrest Manor Nursing Home on Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001. She was in her 84th year. - Born in West Wawanosh Twp. on Aug. 26, 1918, Feme was the daugh- ter of the late James Edward Plowman and his wife Eliza Ellen Nixon. Ferne was the beloved wife of Edgar Howatt and dear mother of Doreen and Bill Taylor, Ivan and Connie Howatt, Dorothy and Melvin Bogie, Douglas and Sherry Howatt and Ronald Howatt and his friend Dianne Fetter. She leaves to mourn grandchildren Stephen, Timothy, Pauline, Glen, Marion, Murray, Dianne, Paul, Michael, Jason, Justin and Jenna; great-grandchildren Brandy, Sheila, Richard, Rebecca, Chantel, Katelynn, Blake,' Taarna, Lance, Emily, Colby and Jarret; sis- ters Edna Rudell- and Mildred (Welsh) Becker, sisters-in-law Roberta Howatt and Ruth Plowman and son-in-law David Webster. She was predeceased by son Gordon in infancy, daughter Ruth Webster (March 25, 1998), sister Della Nixon and brother Earl Plowman. Ferne was a faithful member of the Westfield Fellowship. JEAN WORKMAN Mary Agnes Jennett "Jean" (Grainger) Workman of Huronlea, Brussels, passed away on Friday, Sept. 28, 2001. She was in her 78th year. Born in Jamestown, on April 2, .Ir jri if, 1924, Jean was the only child of the late Fleming Grainger and Margaret Earl and the beloved wife of the late Charles Lloyd "Sam" Workman. R-aised in Jamestown area she mar- ried Sam in 1941 and moved to Brussels, where she lived the majori- ty of her life and was an active mem- ber of St. John's Anglican Church. After. retiring from Callander Nursing Home, Jean enjoyed her many travels with family and friends. Following a stroke in 1999, 'she moved from her home to across the road at Huronlea. Jean will be sadly missed by her children Lynn Aitken and her hus- band Jim of Durham, Murray Workman of Kenora and Donald WOrkman and his wife Christine of Brussels. She was the dear grandmother of Dana and Andrew Aitken and Jamie, Christa and Michelle Smith. She was also loved by her many family members and friends. Born in Saskatoon, -SK on Aug. 1, 1931, Marion was the daughter of the late Howard Johnson and Rhoda Denney and the beloved wife of Ronald Tinkler. Marion will be sadly missed by her husband Ron and her children Rhonda Hoegy and her husband Merle of Brussels, Janice McInnis and her husband Paul of Phoenix, Arizona and Marlies Tinkler and her husband Jonathan Veale of Comox, BC. She was a loving grandmother to Sean, Laurin, and Zachary Hoegy, Haley and Riley McInnis and McKinley and Georgia Veale. She was also loved by her sister Bette Hodgins of Whitby. Mrs. Tinkler was predeceased by her parents Howard and Rhoda Johnson, sister Jeanne Peck and spe- cial friend Swannee.
