Howatts celebrate 65th Canadian Community Newspapers Association It was a special time this past weekend as family and friends gath- ered at Pinecrest Nursing Home, Lucknow, to help celebrate the 65th wedding anniversary of Edgar and Ferne Howatt. Lillian Elsie Ferne Plowman of Donnybrook in West Wawanosh married William Edgar Howatt of Westfield in East Wawanosh at the United Church manse in Auburn on Sept. 30, 1936. Rev. Hugh Wilson was the officiating clergy. Best man was Earl Plowman, the bride's brother. Attending the bride were her sisters Edna and Mildred. The couple took a honeymoon trip in their Model T to the home of the groom's brother George in Bin-. They returned to Westfield to farm. The Howatts were members of Westfield church and enjoyed involvement at fall fairs and plowing matches. Ferne belonged to Women's Institute, while Edgar was associated with the Orange Lodge. Both were members of the Blyth seniors group. The Howatts had seven children: Gordon and Ruth now deceased, Doreen, Ivan, Dorothy, Douglas and Ronald. Thieves steal ATV On Sept. 28 just before 7:15 p.m. Huron OPP were called to a resi-. dence on Hullett McKillop Road in Hullett Twp. over a theft. A four- wheel, green 2000 Polaris 500 Sportsman had been stolen from the yard next to the house. Also taken were two helmets. The ATV, with plate TX-192 was stolen sometime between Sept. 23 and Sept. 28. The stolen equipment is valued at $9,300. Anyone who can help solve this crime is asked to call the Huron OPP or Crime Stoppers. Milestone Ferne and Edgar Howatt marked 65 years of marriage this past weekend with family and friends. The ceremony was performed at 3 p.m. with Father Ron Paquette officiating. The bride is a daughter of John and Ivonne Albers of Brussels and the groom is a son of Bill and Brenda Burkholder of Blyth. The maid of honour was Jennifer Ryan of London, friend of the bride. The bridesmaids were Val Collins of Bluevale, friend of the bride and Laura Albers of Brussels, sister of the bride. The best man was Bryan Stevenson of Bluevale, friend of the groom. Ushering guests were Steve Root of Blyth, friend of the groom and Michael Albers of Brussels, brother of the bride. Reading the scriptures were done by Jennifer Ryan and Tina Burkholder. The organist was Rene terWoord of Winterswijk, Holland. Soloists were Laura Albers and Debbie Terpstra and voices from the St . Ambrose Youth Choir. Gift bearers were Adam Albers, Eline Albers and Simone Straten, both of Groesbeek, Holland. A reception followed at the Atwood Community Centre. The emcee was the groom's best man, Bryan Stevenson.
