At the Branch Many attend Friday night supper The Mennonite Fellowship congre- gation and guests officially installed and welcomed their new Pastor Brent Kipfer to their church and to our community on Sunday. Work at school has settled into rou- tine and so in celebration the public school students had a break day on Friday to enjoy the autumn weather. We were in Kingston/Napanee area last week and their trees are already at about 40 per cent colour. Their level of rain in the summer was more restrictive than ours so perhaps that's why their tree colours are already more vibrant. Anyway they were very pretty. There are lots of things to do and see again this month. Be sure to write them down when your interest is first piqued, for the numbers of food, fun or music-related charitable happen- ings is very impressive for a rural community. The Ten Thousand Villages Sale starts Oct. 11 at the Mennonite church. The Presbyterians would like you to join them for their anniversary barbecue on Oct. 14. The Royalaires are making music at the BMG Centre to benefit the pool heater fund on • Oct. 20. The folks at the SR's look forward to seeing you on Oct. 19 or 20 to celebrate their 10th year in business. Music and goodies are expected there as well. The Uniteds would like you to attend their silent auction Oct. 26 and 27 to help you get started with your Christmas giv- ing. But of course before any ,of these happen I know you'll be joining fam- ily and friends to be part of a com- munity of Thanksgiving this week- end. The Brussels Business Group con- tinues to meet monthly and always welcomes new members and new input. The Santa Claus Parade on Dec. 16 is the topic atresent. Be sure to offer your suppor t. Good memories are in the making. I'm a little sad as I write this. My good neighbour and friend Jean Workman is away to heaven. As I contemplate my time with Jean she leaves me with good memories and several really good reasons to chuck- le. So if I'm honest I have no reason to be sad, but I have many reasons to be thankful that Sam, Jean, Lynn, Murray ,and Don were part of my family's growing up years. The extended crew of Aitkens and Smiths that were added as the years went by gave Jean more reason to be proud of her original three. Enjoy your wings Jean. Bye now, Betty G. W.
