Brussels Livestock report
Lambs sell on lower market Thursday
Total receipts for Brussels
Livestock for the week ending Sept.
21 were 3,473 head of cattle, 389
lambs and goats.
On Tuesday, the fed steers and
heifers sold at prices $1,to $2 lower.
The cows traded steady. On
Thursday the veal sold steady this
week while the Iambs sold on a
lower market. On Friday the steer
calves sold steady, heifer calves sold
$5 lower. All yearlings sold $2 to $3
lower.
There were 565 steers on offer
selling from $105 to $110 with sales
to $125. One limousin steer con-
signed by Clarence W. Martin,
Mount Forest, weighed 1,205 lbs.
and sold for $125. His overall con-
signment of twenty-six steers aver-
aged '1,154 lbs. for an average of
$113.17.
Aaron Shantz, Mount Forest, con-
-signed one blonde steer weighing
1,330 lbs. which sold to Norwich
Packers -for $118. His overall con-
signment of forty steers averaged
1,412 lbs. at $107.39. Twelve steers
consigned by Lorne Benedict,
Kerwood, averaged 1,385 lbs. sell-
ing for an average of $109.85. His
top two limouNn steers averaged
1,305 lbs. and sold to Norwich
Packers for $113.
David Bowles, Brussels, con-
signed three steers averaging 1,390
lbs. selling for an average of $109.59
with sales up to $110.50. One limou-
sin steer consigned by Gilbert
Janssen, Hanover, weighed 1,335
lbs. and sold to Norwich Packers for
$117.75. His overall consignment of
seven steers averaged 1,241 lbs..sell-
ing for an average of $109.38. Frank
Dolmage, Seaforth, consigned four
steers averaging 1,159 lbs. selling
for an average of $109.35 with his
top black steer weighing 1,120 lbs.
bringing his top price of $113.75.
Eighteen steers consigned by Lloyd
Frey, Harriston, averaged 1,435 lbs.
selling for an average price of
$107.59. His top charolais steer
weighed 1,240 ibs. and sold for
$113.
Larry Ryan, Crediton, consigned
one RWF steer weighing 1,345 lbs.
selling to Norwich Packers for
$112.75. His overall consignment 'of
forty-two steers averaged 1,457 lbs.
and sold for an average of $106.85.
One black steer consigned_ by Rick
Bross., Mildmay, weighed 1,200 lbs.
selling for $111.25. His overall con-
signment of fifteen steers averaged
1,281 lbs. which soldd, for an average

Lucknow, consigned one limousin
steer weighing 1,250 lbs. which sold
to Dominion Meats for $113. His
overall consignment of twelve steers
averaged 1,402 lbs. for an average of
$104.71.
There were 326 heifers on offer
selling from $105 to $110 with saleS

consigned one blue heifer weighing
1,020 lbs, which sold for $119. One
limousin heifer consigned by Samuel
Martin, Clifford, weighed 1,300 lbs.
selling to Holly Park Meat Packers
for $114. His overall consignment of
seven heifers averaged 1,173 lbs. for
an_average price of 108.01.
Four limousin heifers consigned
by Percy Bros., Holyrood, averaged
1,179 lbs. and sold to Norwich
Packers .for $113.75. Their overall
consignment of nine limousin heifers
O'eraged 1,131 lbs. for an average of
$109.49.
Muxlea Farms,: Woodstock, con-
signed two limbusin heifers averag-
ing 1,263 lbs. which sold to
Dominion Meats for $112.75. Their
overall consignment of fourteen
heifers averaged 1,268 lbs. for an
average of $108.56. Utbshott Farms,
Ilderton, consigned one limousin
heifer weighing 1,260 lbs. which
sold to Holly Park Meat Packers for
$108.25.
Fifty-four heifers consigned by
Johnston Farms, Bluevale, averaged
1,173 lbs. for an average price of
$107.81 with their top fourteen lirn-
ousin heifers averaging 1,168 lbs.
selling to Norwich Packers for
$111.25. Isaak Doerksen, Wroxeter.
consigned seven heifers averaging
1,244 lbs. selling- for an average of
$106.98 with his top limousin heifer
weighing 1,190 -lbs. selling for $113.
Fifty-four heifers consigned by
Melvin W. Bearinger, Mount Forest,
averaged 1,211 lbs. selling for an
average. of $106.76 with his top
charolais heifer weighing? 1,170 lbs.
selling for $112.50. Leggdale Acres
Ltd., Chesley, consigned two heifers
averaging 1,233 lbs. selling for an
average of $104.92 with sales to
$107.75. Ten heifers consigned by
Siineon Brubacker, Holyrood, aver-
aged 1,340 lbs. and sold for an aver-
age of $104.84 with sales to
$107.75.
There were 173 cows on offer. D I
and D2 cows sold $65 to $75 with
sales to $93.50; D3, $60 to $65; D4,
$50 to $60. Mark Ebenau, Chesley,
consigned one charolais cow weigh-
ing 1,240 lbs. which sold to
Packerland Packing Co. Ltd. for
$93.50. One holstein cow consigned
by Henry Hendricks, Brucefield,
weighed 1,175 lbs. selling for $83.
Aaron Fischer, Ayton, consigned one
limousin cow weighing 1,270 lbs.
selling to Packeriand Packing Co.
Ltd. for $81.
There were 25 bulls on offer sell-
ing from $70 to $95.75 with sales to
$101. One limousin bull consigned
by Don Moffat, Lucknow, weighed
1,335 lbs. selling to Aylmer Meat
Packers for $92. Wally Pugh,
Orangeville, consigned one hereford
bull weighing 1,445 lbs. which sold
for $87.
There were 138 head of veal on
offer. Beef sold $110 to 149;
Holstein, $105 to $120.50; Plain
Holstein, $90 to $100. Don Eadie,
Wingham, consigned one limousin
veal heifer weighing 675 lbs. which
• sold to Holly Park Meat Packers for
$149. His overall consignment of
four veal averaged 643 lbs. selling
for an average of $135.46.
Six veal steers consigned by Eric
Nonkes, Auburn, averaged 664 lbs.
and sold for an average of $110.42
with his top limousin steer weighing
655 lbs. selling to White Veal Meat
Packers for $129. Bill Devos Jr.,
Bluevale, consigned one black veal
steer weighing 720 lbs, which sold to
Noval Meat Packers for $123.50. His
overall consignment of four veal
averaged 686 lbs. selling for an aver-
age of $114.18. -
Lambs, under 50 lbs. sold to $150;
50 - 64 lbs., $120 to $145; 65 - 79
lbs., $103 to $137.50; 80 - 94 lbs.,
$90 to $116; 95 - 109 lbs., $84 to
$91; and 110 lbs. and over, $77 to
$79.
Goats sold $22 to $85.
Sheep sold $29 to $63.
Stocker steers, under 400 lbs., sold
$129 to $206; 400 - 499 lbs.,
$143.50 to $186.50; 500 - 599 lbs.,

Brussels Fall Fair 4-H beef show, winning Champion Calf,
