Brussels Livestock report
3.079 head of cattle, 591 lambs, goats on offer at sale
Total receipts for the Brussels
Livestock for the week ending Sept.
14 were 3,079 head of cattle. 591
lambs and goats.
On Tuesday the fed steers and
heifers sold at steady prices. The
cows also sold on a steady market.
On Thursday the veal sold at prices
steady to last week and the lambs
sold no a lower market. On Friday all
calves and -yearlings sold on a steady
market.
There were 519 steers on offer sell-
ing from $108 to $111 with sales to
$121. One gold steer consigned by
Brian Bearss, St. Marys, weighed
1,325 lbs. selling to Norwich Packers
for $121. His overall offering of
eighteen steers averaged 1,398 lbs.
for an average price of $110.32.
Brian Wideman, Gowanstown,
consigned one charolais steer weigh-
ing 1,505 lbs. which sold to
Dominion Meats for, $119.25. His
overall offering of five steers aver-
aged 1,525 lbs. for an average of
$109.49.
Twelve steers consigned by Lorne
Benedict, Kerwood, averaged 1,362
lbs. selling for an average of $112.30
with his top black steer weighing
1,420 lbs. selling to Holly Park Meat
Packers for $115.50. Lauderlea
Farms, Listowel, consigned twelve
limousin steers averaging 1,439 lbs.
selling for an average of $111.99 with
sales to $113.75. Two charolais steers
consigned by Jason B. Martin,
Chesley, averaged 1,420 lbs. and sold
to Dominion Meats for $112.50. His
overall consignment of seven steers
averaged 1,461 lbs. for an average of
$109.65.
Kada Farms, Bluevale, consigned
one gold steer weighing 1,390 lbs.
selling for $118.50. Their overall
consignment of twenty steers aver-
aged 1,435 lbs. and sold for an aver-
age of $109.39. Twelve steers con-
signed by Doug Shiell, Wingham,
averaged 1,644 lbs. selling for an
average of $107.67 with sales up to
$112. Glencar Farms Ltd., Stratford,
consigned thirty-one steers averaging
1,503 lbs. selling for an average of
$106.56 with their top five steers
averaging 1,447 lbs. selling to
Dominion Meats for $111.10.
Ten charolais steers consigned by
Stan Francis, Kirkton, averaged
1,485 lbs. selling for an average of
$104.41 with his top three steers
averaging 1,470 lbs. which sold for
$110.50. Neil Thompson, Atwood,
consigned ten steers averaging 1,429
lbs. selling for an average of $104.31
with his top red steer weighing 1.365
lbs. selling for $111.50.
There were 260 heifers on offer
selling from $108 to $111 with sales
to $118.75. Enos M. Sherk, Wroxeter,
consigned one blonde heifer weigh-
ing 1,305 lbs. which sold to Norwich
Packers for $118.75. His total con-
signment of three heifers averaged
1,320 lbs. selling for an average of
$112.08.
Two limousin heifers consigned by
Hugh Love, Atwood, averaged 1,185
lbs. selling to Dominion Meats for
$114.50. His overall consignment of
ten heifers averaged 1,201 lbs. selling
for an average of $108.59. Merkley
Farms, Wroxeter, consigned eight
limousin heifers averaging 1,148 lbs.
selling for an average of $110.73 with
their top three limousin heifers aver-
aging 1,163 lbs. selling for $112.
One black heifer consigned by
Russell Kernighan, Goderich,
weighed 1,165 lbs. and sold for $110.
Rick Covers, Crediton, consigned
one black heifer weighing 1,115 lbs.
selling for $114.50. His overall con-
signment of twenty-three heifers
averaged 1,177 lbs. selling for an
average price of $108.81. Eight
heifers consigned by Fred and Lynda
Helwig, Neustadt, averaged 1,361
lbs. and sold for an average of
$107.85 with their top Limousin heifer
weighing 1,395 lbs. bringing
$112.50.
Cleason M. Bauman, Holyrood,
consigned four heifers averaging
1,143 lbs. selling for an average of
$106.71 with sales to $111.75. Seven
heifers consigned by John A. Elliott,
Ripley, averaged 1,178 lbs. selling for
an average of $106.64 with his top
limousin heifer weighing 1,140 lbs.
selling for $113.50. Grofield Farms,
Walton, consigned six heifers averag-
ing 1,243 lbs. selling for an average
of $106.54 with sales to $109.75.
Fourteen heifers consigned by
Muxlea Farms, Woodstock, averaged
1.240 lbs. and sold for an average of
$104.78 with their top limousin heifer
weighing 1,315 lbs. selling to Holly
Park Meat Packers for $113.50.
There were 177 cows on offer. DI
and D2 cows sold $65 to $75 with
sales to $79.50; D3, $60 to $65; D4,
$50 to $60. John Giesler, Walkerton,
consigned one black cow weighing
1,440 lbs. selling to Packerland
Packing Co. Inc. for $79.50. One lim-
ousin cow consigned by Casey &
Cathy Hendricks, Lucknow, weighed
1,595 lbs. and was purchased by
Packerland Packing Co. Inc. for
$77.50. Dave McClinchey, Auburn,
consigned one limousin cow weigh-
ing 1,055 lbs. which sold to Abbattoir
Les Cedres Ltd. for $76.
There were 19 bulls on offer selling
from $65 to $94 with sales to $96.50.
Jamie Kuepfer, Bluevale, consigned
one limousin bull weighing 1,700 lbs.
which sold to Levinoff Meat Products
Ltd. for $96.50. One limousin bull
consigned by Stewart Knechtel,
Gadshill, weighed 2,290 lbs. selling
to Aylmer Meat Packers for $94.
There were 164 head of veal on
offer. Beef sold $105 to $137:

one red veal steer weighing 660 lbs.

for $137. His overall consignment of
tour veal averaged 683 lbs. selling for

ousin veal steer weighing 680 lbs.
