Brussels Mennonite Fellowship welcomes new pastor
Welcome
Pastor Brent Kipfer has come to minister to the congregation at Brussels Mennonite
Fellowship. The church, which has a membership of 80 and average attendance of 70, wel-
comes its first full-time, non-interim pastor in several years.

The Brussels Mennonite congrega-
tion has welcomed a new full-time
pastor.
Brent Kipfer, along with his wife
Sarah and their two sons, Joel, four
and Micah, two-and-a-half have pur-
chased a home in Brussels and are
"planning to be here for a good long
time," said the pastor, who officially
assumed his parish on Sept. 4.
For Kipfer the commitment to
Christ, he said, came at a fairly early
age. "It had crossed my mind then
that perhaps I was being called, but
by the end of high school I knew I
needed to do something to test this,
to see if I had the gifts, to be a good
minister."
For the young man, who had been
raised on a farm near Brunner, out-
side Milverton,the test began at
Rockway Mennonite Collegiate in
Kitchener, followed by three years in
Winnipeg at the Canadian
Mennonite Bible College.
Between the second and third
years there, Kipfer spent a summer
as a student pastor at the Riverdale
Mennonite Church in Millbank.
"That was really the first introduc-
tion to being a pastor. It helped con-
firm that God was calling me to pas-
toral ministry."
After one year at the University of
Waterloo, in March of 1994, Kipfer
began working as a youth and young
adult pastor at St. Agatha Mennonite
Church. In November of the next
year the co-pastor left and the con-
gregation asked Kipfer to become
the sole pastor.
This was a three-quarter position,
so he also worked part-time, at a
Christian community in Stratford for
the developmentally handicapped.
In December of 2000, Kipfer, his
wife, whom he had married in
August of 1994 and their two sons
spent six months in Indiana at a
Mennonite seminary. Said Kipfer,
who has been taking seminary cours-
es since 1994, "The purpose was to
study and strengthen my gifts in
ministry."
