There was an oversight made with
regards to the story about Derek
Cook's trip to Turkey as reported in
last week's issue of The Citizen. In
addition to financial support from the
local Lions Club to assist him with
the exchange, Cook also received a
donation from the Blyth Royal
Canadian Legion Branch.
Some of the kids are gearing up for
Belgrave Fair on Wednesday, Sept.
13. There are lots of activities tor the
school children to participate in after
the visit to the arena to see if there is
a prize on their exhibits entered.
Blyth United Church welcomed
David Williams as guest speaker for
Sunday, Sept. 11. Diane Ferguson
greeted at the door and Donna Moore
ushered. Call to worship was led by
David Williams, followed by prayer
of approach repeated in unison.
Hymn All My Hope in God is
Founded was sung.
Assurance of God's Grace and
Forgiveness was followed by the
reading of Psalm 139: 1-6. 13-18.
The children's hymn Jesus, Friend of
Little Children was sung.
Conversation with the children
was followed by a prayer before the
children went down to watch a
Veggie Tale downstairs.
The choir's anthem was accompa-
nied by Lynda Lentz.
Scripture readings were Jeremiah
18: 1-11, Luke 14: 25-33 and
Philemon I: 1-21.
Mr. Williams' message was
Shifting Priorities. The offering was
taken by Donna Moore, Diane
Ferguson and Herb Shannon.

Sept. 15 and 29 at the Blyth United
Church.
Visitors to the home of Don and
Marilyn Craig Friday evening were
Pat and Diane Balcerzak, cousins
from Lakeport N.Y. and Murray and
Joyce Cook from Clinton.
Music, music
From the contestants in this fid-
dling contest, to step dancers,
to bands to jamming campers,
the Blyth fairgrounds were alive
with the sounds of fiddles, gui-
tars and old country tunes
throughout the Thresher
